LI2 President featured in NASA Women’s History Month publication

Logical Innovations, Inc. and President Denise Navarro are featured in a special publication, produced by the NASA Office of Small Business Programs at NASA Headquarters, celebrating the 2014 National Women’s History Month. Navarro is being honored along with the owners of eight other Women-Owned Small Businesses for the contributions their companies provide to the various NASA centers.

It is an especially prestigious honor as each business was selected for recognition by their respective center. Logical Innovations was selected by the Glenn Research Center for its prime role on the Visitor Education and Community Outreach Support Services (VECOSS) Contract.

Texas City High School student receives 2014 Logical Innovations, Inc. Scholarship

Edgar Salinas, a 2014 graduate of Texas City High School has been named the second recipient of the Logical Innovations, Inc. Scholar-ship.

Salinas will receive $700 per se-mester during the 2014-2015 and 2016-2017 school years to attend College of the Mainland (COM), a community college located in Texas City, Texas.

Mary Ann Amelang, Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of the COM Foun-dation presented Salinas with his LI2 scholarship certificate on May 20. Salinas was not able to attend the Texas City High School awards cer-emony to accept his certificate due to work obligations.

“While we were disappointed that we could not personally present Ed-gar with his scholarship certificate, his work ethic and determination to pursue a college degree proved that we chose the right recipient,” Logi-cal Innovations Director of Business Operations, Michael Navarro said.

Salinas worked up to 38 hours a week alongside his mother at a local restaurant while also attending his senior year of high school.

The Logical Innovations scholarship value increased by $200 per semes-ter this year to ensure the recipients receive sufficient funding to pay for all of their tuition and textbook fees.

“After speaking with our inaugural winner, Angel Eguia, at the recent student and donor luncheon, we dis-covered that our initial award did not completely cover his textbook fees,” Navarro said. “That was counter-productive to the goals we set forth when establishing this fund, so we increased our award amount and added additional funding to the re-mainder of his scholarship.”

Salinas’ story is spotlighted on the COM website at http://www.com.edu/news-events/ar t ic le .php?id=1717
