This month let's consider this article byPastor Eric Zacharias.

"The best way to predict the future is toinvent it." So say people who advise thatchange comes by manipulating people to actin a predictable way. Yet, Jesus--the greatestchange agent of history--got a lot done byNOT doing theethings suggested by man. There are three factors that sociologists saycan "invent" change: Influential people,Crowds of people, and Networks--the morepassionate, the better. Again, Jesus ignoredall of this and still is the most prominent manof history.

Jesus ignored the influential people, likethe Scribes, Priests and Pharisees. Thesesoon opposed him, seeing his message ascounter to their own.

Jesus had no problem forming crowds. They gathered to hear him and to be healedby him. They were there even as he cameinto Jerusalem, praising him as the MessianicKing. But Jesus did not need the crowds, andoften tried to keep crowds from forming-buthe welcomed all who would hear the truth ofGod.

Jesus did not focus on large networks, buton the individual relationships. His connectionwas with the Father; and he formed aconnection between God and man. That is what made is message unique--as itis to this day. The suffering, death andresurrection of Jesus brought the greatestchange there can be: forgiveness of sin and aperfect relationship with God.

The crucifixion of Jesus came about asman employed the art of deceit andmanipulation to bring Jesus' life to an end.Influential people were gathered to consent to

Jesus' death. The scribes and priestsgathered other influential groups, thePharisees and Sadducees. The assembly of70 elders consented to the charge ofblasphemy. Pontius Pilate and King Herodwere called upon to convict him. Crowdswere gathered in to call for the ultimateshameful death of crucifixion. '

Jesus allowed that change to happen, even at the hands of deceptive and evil men.Their evil plan of change-- of influencepeddling and the manipulation of people--worked with the perfect will of God to bringJesus to his cross. .

God "invented" the future for us, in thesense that God "brought in" a future that wecould never bring about by our own means.Jesus did it by his perfect life and perfectobedience to the Father's will to save us,bringing us out of our sins into his kingdom ofgrace and glory.

Consider what it means when you want to"invent" your own future. Remember that evilmen artfully use deceit and manipulation; evilpeople don't mind sacrificing the freedom andeven the lives of others to reach their ownselfish goals. As you seek your way in life, don't resort to that sort of "invention."Consider what God accomplished for youwith his own power, influence, andconnection. Out of the weakness of Jesus'crucifixion and death, God brought forth thepower of the Resurrection. That power issuch to transform your life, from the time ofyour Baptism in Christ, where you were bornagain by God's Holy Spirit. Work byhonorable means and rely on God to forgeyour future. Entrust your life to him, who haschanged things forever-now and forever.

Blessings to you in his holy name. .'; ::

Out of the mouths of the Babes-I certainly don't think an adult could explain

this more beautifully 1

THIS IS FABULOUS!!!It was written by an 8-year-old named Danny Dutton, who lives in Chula Vista, CA . He wrote it for histhird grade homework assignment, to 'explain God.'wonder if any ofus could have done as well?(and he had such an assignment, in California, andsomeone published it, I guess miracles do happen!)

EXPLANATION OF GOD:

'One of God's main jobs is making people. He makesthem to replace the ones that die, so there will beenough people to take care of things on earth. He does-n't make grownups, just babies. I think because theyare smaller and easier to make. That way he doesn'thave to take up his valuable time teaching them totalk and walk. He can just leave that to mothers andfathers.'

'God's second most important job is listening toprayers. An awful lot of this goes on, since some peo-ple, like preachers and things, pray at times besidebedtime. God doesn't have time to listen to the radio orTV because of this. Because he hears everything, theremust be a terrible lot of noise in his ears, unless he hasthought of a way to turn it off.'

'God sees everything and hears everything and is eve-rywhere which keeps Him pretty busy. So you should-n't go wasting his time by going over your mom anddad's head asking for something they said you couldn'thave.'

'Atheists are people who don't believe in God. I don'tthink there are any in Chula Vista. At least there aren'tany who come to our church.'

'Jesus is God's Son. He used to do all the hard work, like walking on water and performing miracles andtrying to teach the people who didn't want to learnabout God. They finally got tired of him preaching tothem and they crucified him. But he was good andkind, like his father, and he told his father that theydidn't know what they were doing and to forgive themand God said O.K.' And God did not let Jesus stay inthe grave, but raised him from the dead.

"His dad (God) appreciated everything that he had

done and all his hard work on earth so he told himhe didn't have to go out on the road anymore. Hecould stay in heaven. So he did. And now he helpshis dad out by listening to prayers and seeing thingswhich are important for God to take care of andwhich ones he can take care of himself without hav-ing to bother God. Like a secretary, only more im-portant.'

'You can pray anytime you want and they are sure tohelp you because they got it worked out so one ofthem is on duty all the time.'

'You should always go to church on Sunday becauseit makes God happy, and ifthere's anybody youwant to make happy, it's God!

Don't skip church to do something you think will bemore fun like going to the beach. This is wrong. Andbesides the sun doesn't come out at the beach untilnoon anyway.'

If you don't believe in God, besides being an atheist, you will be very lonely, because your parents can'tgo everywhere with you, like to camp, but God can.It is good to know He's around you when you'rescared, in the dark or when you can't swim and youget thrown into real deep water by big kids.'

'But ...you shouldn't just always think of what Godcan do for you. I figure God put me here and he cantake me back anytime he pleases.

And ...that's why I believe in God.'
