Sports Teams

Highlights

Rugby

The U16s remain unbeaten scoring over 50

points against Lutterworth (last year’s County

Cup winners), Beauchamp and Bishop

Stopford. The U15s record good wins against

Carre’s Grammar, Bishop Stopford, and

Kibworth. Also the U18s defeat Lutterworth

in repeat of 2015 Plate final.

Football

The U19 Girls and U19 Boys make it through

to County Cup Semi Finals. The U16 girls and

U19 girls reach Round 4 of the National Cup.

The U15s recover from a slow start to draw

at Kibworth and the U16 boys record big win

in the national cup.

Netball

Highlights from this term have included being the top state at the U16

county tournament and comfortably beating Countesthorpe at U15 and

U16s.

Badminton

With 8 wins and 5 defeats from the season so

far across all year groups there have been

some stand out performances including 8-0

wins over Wigston College (U18 Girls) and

Leicester Grammar (U18 and KS4 Girls), and 7

-1 wins over Countesthorpe (KS4 Boys) and

Wigston College (U18 boys).

Swimming

Well done to all the students who participated

in the annual gala at Leicester Grammar.

Sports Ambassadors

Early in the Autumn term the RSA sports ambassadors led the annual

conference for the Year 6 sports ambassadors for 14 local primary

schools. Over 60 ambassadors attended the training morning. During the

training they listened to presentations from Abi York, George Lawton and

Josh Bott, took part in team building exercises and designed and led their

own activities. Each primary school has link ambassador who liaises with

the school/children throughout the year and helps where necessary with

assemblies/clubs etc. Well done to the 15 ambassadors involved in this

project.

RSA has been selected to become a Youth

Sport Trust Champion School with the aim

of encouraging other secondary schools to

run community events with an Olympic or

Paralympic focus.

Less than 80 schools have been chosen

nationally. As part of this, Gold Sports

Ambassadors George Lawton and Josh

Bott attended the National conference at

Villa Park in November.

where they will be training and working

alongside a number of inclusive leaders

from Ellesmere College. A number will

attend the regional camp and then
