A unique school achieving success.
WELCOME B ACK FOR ANOTHER BUSY TERM Term 2 is off to a flying start with students,
teachers and parents commemorating ANZAC
Day with a wonderful service on Wednesday.
Students demonstrated very respectful behaviour
whilst listening attentively to our guest speakers
and proudly laid individual poppies at the front of
our ANZAC garden. Our school captains also
proudly represented Lochinvar at the ANZAC service on Friday at
Rutherford Technology High School. On Friday, 12th May we are
celebrating the wonderful women in our life by hosting a special Mother’s
Day assembly and afternoon tea. I would like to invite all mothers,
grandmothers, aunts, carers and friends to join us for this event.
CROSS COUNTRY SUCCESS On Friday students aged 8 and older
participated in our school cross country.
Students participated enthusiastically in the
event and demonstrated terrific persistence
throughout the course. Congratulations to the
following students who have successfully made it through to the Zone
Cross Country: Charli, Leesha, Saige, Megan, Riley, Jake, Douglas, Jake,
Jessica, Isabelle, Amelia, Eva, Callan, Angus, Jayden, Braiden, Caitlyn,
Paige, Sofie, Holly, Reece, Jared, Logan, Vegas, Chelsea B, Taylah,
Taleb, Connor, Sam & Callum.
NAPL AN During week 3, on Tuesday, 9
th May Wednesday, 10th May and Thursday,
11th May, students in years 3 & 5 will complete the National Assessment
Program-Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). Students will complete 4 tests
during this time. Parents will receive a report indicating their child’s level of
achievement later this year.

KH ASSEMBLY FRIDAY , 5TH MAY AT 2 :15 PM This Friday our assembly will be hosted by KH. We are excited and looking forward to learning
about the great things happening in Kindergarten with Mrs Harwood. We would like to invite all
parents and carers to join us on Friday for this assembly.
SKOOLBAG TECHNICAL D IFFICULTIES In recent weeks we have been experiencing a number of difficulties with the
Skoolbag app. Although this is frustrating we are working with Skoolbag to try and
rectify this. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
IMPORTANT CHANGES TO L IBRARY D AYS Library days have changed this term as we welcome Mrs Howard back to the
Library. Monday will be Library for year 3, 4/5 and 5/6. Tuesday will be Library
for KH, K/1M, 1/2H & 1/2T.
Good Luck PSSA Girls Netball We wish our PSSA girls netball team good luck as they play against Branxton on
Wednesday. The girls have already shown dedication and have worked together
extremely well during training sessions. Win, lose or draw you have already done
us proud!
ATTENDANCE R EWARD CELEBRATION Congratulations to the following students for attaining 100%
attendance in Term 1: Aaria, Connor, Thane, Jake, Sepa,
Madison, Jack, Max, Xavier, Lucy, Blake, Tayla, Isabella, Roary,
Phoebe, Joshua, Kayla, Molli, Monique, Tiarna, Jake, Riley,
Charli, Ethan, Jack, Jett, Jayden, Josh, Purusha, Caitlyn, Joel &
Callum. We had a terrific time decorating cupcakes and making
crazy glasses and crowns in our craft activity. Regular and
punctual attendance at school is imperative to supporting learning so we strongly encourage you
to support your child to attend school every day.
NEXT P & C MEETING TUESDAY , 9TH
M AY 2 :20 PM The next P & C meeting will be held on Tuesday, 9
th May from 2:20pm in the
school library. We always encourage new members to join the P & C and share their ideas and look forward to seeing you there.
C ANTEEN Canteen Volunteers are required in week 8; Wednesday 14 June & Friday 16 June.

P & C FREDDO CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER We still have a few chocolate fundraiser boxes left if anybody is
interested. Boxes of chocolates can be collected from the office.
Each box sells for $50, we would appreciate your support with this.
TRAINING FOR OFFICE STAFF IN NEW F INANCE SYSTEM Over the course of this term, Mrs Legge, Mrs Clifton and Mrs Cantwell will be participating in
training for the new finance system that is being introduced into schools. For your information,
both Mrs Legge and Mrs Clifton will be out of the office at these training days 1-2 days every
week. Mrs Thorpe will be replacing Mrs Legge for the duration of this training. Please be patient
as we move in to this new system. There will be additional information available to parents in the
next week.
PBL FOCUS
P & C N EWS - MOTHER ’S D AY R AFFLE
Once again our Fundraising Committee have been busy organising gifts
for the students to purchase for Mother’s Day. The stall will be held on
Friday 12th May and students will have the opportunity to purchase
a gift for their mum or nan for $5.
A Mother’s Day raffle has also been organised with some fabulous prizes to win.
Tickets are available for $1 each and all funds raised will go towards
supporting the students at Lochinvar Public School.

Prize: $200 accommodation gift voucher at Talga Vineyard Escape, a VIP Tour & Taste for 4 people at Brokenwood & $40 gift voucher at Maple Homewares and Gifts

CHRISTMAS IN JULY
MAJOR FUNDRAISER
Following the success of the Masquerade Ball in 2015,
this year the P & C have organised a
Christmas in July Dinner
On Saturday, 22nd
July 2017
at Maitland City Bowls and Recreation Club.
Tickets will be available for sale at $65 per person
and can be purchased from the front office from Monday 15th
May.
This will be a terrific night out, so rally your friends
and come along to support our wonderful school.
