TYPE OF VENUE

Standards has been developed from a repair-shop open space located in a courtyard in the neighborhood of Bovisa-Dergano, Milan, busy with artisan’s laboratories and a few residencies. The structure now comprises 3 studios with different features, ranging from music studio, guest room, co-working space and a sound room equipped with an acoustic interactive permanent art installation. The hall, not big with a surface area of 65 sqm and a height varying from 3,90 and 6,30 m., is versatile, bright during the day from a line of wide skylights.



USABILITY

Our space is apt to host different kinds of events and activities such as photo and video shootings, conferences, presentation meetings, editorial, design, fashion products and collection launch events, city fairs related events, openings, entertainment and evening events/parties. Regarding the studios it is also suitable as a temporary office space for selected co-working projects and features a guest room for art and music residencies.It’s a perfect location to host music events such as dj-sets, private concerts as much as a place befitting to promote receptions for public relations (although out of good neighborly relations it’s not possible to host crowded late night gatherings).Its entrance on the inner courtyard, beside making for a pleasant and sociable outdoor area guarantees a discreet attendance for all guests and professionals involved.



LOCATION

Standards is very conveniently connected to Milan’s public transports network: underground (MM3 Macciachini and Dergano), bus (90, 91, 92), suburban S-Line (Milano Lancetti train station), tram (n. 2, P.le Nigra) are all very close and offer a swift transfer to the city center and to the main places of interest of Milan. Centrale train station is only 3 underground stops away, from there every 15 minutes a shuttle bus service connects to all the city airports (Linate, Malpensa, Bergamo-Orio al Serio).Its location is on the Southern border of the Bovisa district, close to the Politecnico di Milano university campus, an area that in the last few years has seen a certain degree of transformation also with the settlement of a few art studios and cultural enterprises.



STANDARDS NON PROFIT ORGANISATION

Born in 2015 from an idea of Alberto Boccardi and Nicola Ratti, Standards is a versatile space for art and music. As a platform and triggering catalyst for artistic experimentation, it encourages multiple perspectives, with the aim to engage the existing connections and widen definitions for sonic and visual cultures. Standards proposes live performances, exhibitions, workshops, artist residencies and public launch receptions. Its main room features Cavo, a wooden site-specific installation acting on the acoustics as welle as on the aesthetics of its space, conceived as a practice-based research. Standards is animated and managed by non profit art organisations Frequente and Terzopaesaggio.
