LOCATION - Sand Rivers Selous is located in the remote heart of

the Selous Game Reserve in Southern Tanzania.

SETTING - on the banks of the mile wide Rufiji River.

ACCOMMODATION - Acccomodation at Sand Rivers is in spacious

open-fronted cottages raised on the banks of the Rufiji River.

There are 5 Standard Riverside rooms and 3 Hillside Suites. All

have en-suite bathrooms, with flush toilets, powerful showers and

hot and cold running water. See the following page for more de-

tails on the different room types.

ACTIVITIES - Our area of the Selous affords great opportunities for

game viewing by vehicle, on foot and by boat and we make the

most of all of them! We also enjoy picnics, fishing, trips to the hot

springs and fly camping. The area is a rich game destination with-

out many other camps. Perfect for full immersion in the bush.

FLY CAMPING - Fly-camping is a highly recommended part of any

safari to Sand Rivers Selous, and is available at an extra supple-

ment. The fly camps are shared, and guests sleep under spacious

mosquito net tents. A bucket shower with hot water, and short-

drop toilet is set up behind camp. A full complement of staff pro-

vide a full breakfast, light lunch, and 3-course candlelit dinner.

SEASONS - June to September; warm days and cool nights, best

time of year for walking safaris. Great elephant and buffalo sight-

ings. October-November: heavy concentrates of game around the

inland lakes, weather dry and hot. December-March: prolific bird

life, many animals calving, weather starts to get humid, with

possibility of rain.

CHILD POLICY - We are delighted to accept children of 8 and over

at Sand Rivers. However, please note that only children of 12 and

over can participate in fly camping or walking activities.

HOW TO GET THERE - There are numerous daily flights from Dar

es Salaam, Zanzibar, Ruaha, Mafia, Pemba, and northern Tanza-

nia.

with spectacular views out over the river and surrounding woodlands. En-suite bathrooms have hot and cold

running water, flush toilets and powerful showers.

Hillside Suites

There are three hillside suites at Sand Rivers Selous. All the rooms are open-fronted, raised and have a lounge

area, en-suite bathrooms, powerful showers and private plunge pools.
