We will be exhibiting the video installation in Thomas Tallis School in Kidbrook, South London. We chose this location because of its proximity to the storage of all of the equipment we will be using to exhibit the video installation and because of it’s proximity to all of the people involved in running the exhibit as they all currently attend this school.

Furthermore it benefits from the advantage of having first aiders on site and being only 5 miles from the Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup.

This building is structurally sound as it was only built recently in late 2011 and has received a wide array of safety checks. It’s also been verified that this school is stable and provides an even surface to mount a tripod on. There is a row of take always just around the corner from the school and there is a café on site so catering arrangements will be handled. We will not provide free food but food is very accessible.

I’m currently attending this school so I’m in close contact with the people who run the operations at the school and we have there signed permission to film here. This is a privately owned building that is regularly cleaned by cleaners so it’s very hygienic. We will be filming all of the shots in the day time across June and July so there will be a lot of natural light to work in, however we will be filming inside so consistency in weather is not essential. The building is also air conditioned so the building will be well ventilated and the so cast and crew will be comfortable conditions to focus and work in. This building also has lots of fire exits.

The room we will be exhibiting in the drama studio room 1620 in block 1. The room is very spacious and therefore provides a large space to place the 5 projectors, 5 laptops and 5 tables required to put them on. This room’s width allows us to place the projectors a good distance away from the wall while still allowing enough space for a mass of victors to view the artwork. Furthermore the plug sockets are on all four walls of the room so we can run extension cables underneath the tables from side wall and back wall which is the wall the screens will be projected on. If the plug sockets were only on one wall then we might have to extend cables in the space where the visitors will be which could be a health hazard as people could trip over them. This school is cleaned regularly by a private cleaning firm so this exhibit will be clean which is important as we want the visitors to have the best experience possible when viewing the exhibition. The laminated flooring is also makes this room easier to sweep.

This room has all white walls and has a massive back wall, which provides the excellent space to project the artwork on to. However we don’t want the line of tables the projectors will be on to table up most of the room so we will place them half way down the room which means the images can only be so big because the further a projector is from the thing it’s projecting onto the bigger the projection can be. So we decided to limit the size, as we also don’t want the screens to overlap. This room is one of the few rooms where all of the walls are completely blank and there is no pictures or display boards. There is however a projector but that is on the sidewall we are not projecting onto.

We will also be sharing the room with another art exhibition so we are restricted as to how much space we can use. Furthermore our screens have plug in headphones next to each of their laptops so the visitors can get a clearer listen to the dialogue. However the table used for the other exhibition restricts the space people have to listen to screen five. The other exhibition is also features dialogue so there is a chance people might have difficulty listening to our video installation if the sound through the headphones is drowned out by sound coming from the other exhibition.

This room is also a functioning room so it’s likely there will be a lot of chairs in the room from previous classes that we have to move. But the storage space we put them in is only at the end of corridor so it will be easy to move them. We chose specifically a drama room opposed to a class room because the mass amount of furniture required to teach a formal lesson like history is not required in drama so we don’t have to move tables out of the room. We did need to borrow some tables from elsewhere which we did by just taking the tables from a room at the end of that same corridor. This room features laminated flooring rather than carpet so there will be no friction as the chairs are dragged out of the room. This room also have a big door way which means visitors will have a large window to see the video art work when entering down the corridor and also means there is a large space to carry equipment out and get visitors in.

The only health hazard could be the plug sockets, which we will have put up warning signs and yellow warning tape to highlight so the small children who attend won’t stick their fingers into them. Visitors won’t be on risk from tripping on wires as the wires have been taped down and are behind the projects in the area that has been cordoned off to the visitors by the yellow warning tape. The corridor which this room is on also provides a lot of wall space to stick signs up warning the visitors about wires and informing then to put the headphones on to hear the sound. This room is also a windowless so we can block all natural light and turn the lights off so the light coming from the projectors and light coming from the corridor will be all the public can use to see which is more than enough light to prevent any accidents.
