Bulletin 2 Local procedures 26 th June 2018 1. Briefings General and safety briefing will be held on Friday 6 th July at 18.00 in Hangar 1. Daily briefing will be at 10.00 in Hangar 1. 2. Use of Flarm device A Flarm device is mandatory in each competing glider. 3. Files and data to be provided to the competition organiser The Flarm device ID of the competing glider shall be provided for the glider tracking use until 2 nd July 2018. Also the IGC-file of the primary logger shall be provided to the competition organiser. These can be sent by email [email protected]. 4. Instruments that must be removed from the sailplane The following instruments must not be carried on board or must be neutralized by the competitor. Bohli, Schanz, KT1 or any other gimballed compass, turn indicator Artificial horizon Any other instrument that may be used for cloud flying is prohibited 5. Documents required in registration The certificate of the third party insurance (minimum amount is SDR 1.500.000 (> 500 kg) and SRD 750 000 (< 500 kg)), validation of MTOM, valid pilot license and medical. A valid logger calibration certificate not older than 5 years, which will be verified only in the case of each air space height limit violation. 6. Competition airspace and forbidden airspace Competition airspace will be presented in AIP Supplement 66/2018, https://www.ais.fi/ais/aipsup/Sup/S2018/EF_SUP_2018_066_en.pdf . The absolute altitude limit in the absence of any forbidden airspace over the competition area is FL 95. The official airspace file will be available on the competition website as soon as possible.

7. Turnpoint file format

The official turnpoint file format is .cup (SeeYou), which can be downloaded on the competition website. Other unofficial formats (use at your own risk) can be found on http://soaringweb.org/TP/Finland_nm/files.html. 8. Aeronautical map The aeronautical map covering the competition area can be ordered via Karttakeskus online store. https://www.karttakauppa.fi/en/ Southern Finland Aviation Map, ANC 2103cd, 26 APR 2018 9. Grid order and grid opening time Grid order and opening time will be distributed each morning by the competition office. Gridding is not allowed before the opening time of the grid. 10. Checking of glider’s mass Checking of glider mass before take-off is done randomly when accessing to the grid. 11. Frequencies used during the competition flights The competition frequency of 122.650 MHz shall be used at least until leaving the launching zone and on the final glide 10 km or less from the finish circle. During the contest flight frequency of 122.025 MHz shall be used. 12. Launch procedures for motor gliders Motor gliders may self launch or launch by aero tow. For motor gliders taking off autonomously, the engine must be switched off in the release zone, at or below the standard release height 600 m AGL or other height fixed at briefing. 13. Start Option to be used and Start geometry The start option for the contest is a start line, length 10km, centered on the start point. 14. Information of start time Pilots shall communicate with radio their start times to the organizers within 30 minutes of their last valid start to an accuracy of two minutes and the organizers shall publish starting times as quickly as possible. Penalties may be given for non-compliance or incorrect notification.

15. Information of outlandings A competitor, who has landed out, may contact the contest organizer by telephone giving them information as specified on the outlanding form. In the case of virtual outlanding the flight documentation must be provided according to the normal procedure after competition flight.

Telephone number for the Competition Office will provided on the task sheet. 16. Finish ring Finish ring of 3 km will be used. Minimum height for crossing the finish ring will be 274 m (MSL), which is 150 m above the Räyskälä airfield elevation. The following phrases presented in the figure below shall be used 10 km before the finish ring and when crossing the finish ring depending on the daily landing procedures in use:

17. Landing procedures After crossing the finish ring, the pilot must land according to instructions given in the daily briefing. Landing procedures are presented in Appendix A.

18. Contest site boundaries Contest site boundaries are forests, lake Särkijärvi, hangar area and road Räyskäläntie like indicated in Appendix B. 19. Providing the IGC-file The pilot must download the IGC-file via the competition website within 30 minutes after landing. 20. Protest fee

Protest fee is 150 €.

21. Prize giving ceremony Prize giving ceremony will be arranged as soon as possible after the last competition flights.
