On yOur mark… get set… summer! There’s nothing like a good, long Memorial Day weekend to kick off the month. It’s kind of a small taste of all the fun to come over the next 2 and ½ months. Hopefully, you’ve got that much needed vacation already planned and on the books. As for all of the other fun to-do’s in between, not to worry. Local Life has you covered with a full calendar of all the LOCAL going’s-on!

I’m excited the kiddos are out of school and I’m petrified that the kids are out of school. Don’t get me wrong, I love having them around but that means Mama has some activity planning to do.

I’d like to send a big shout-out to all of the grads of 2012. The world is yours for the taking! Good luck to you all and may all of your enormous aspirations come true. I can still remember way back in the stone ages when I graduated and how exciting the life ahead seemed. There were a few rude awakenings along the way for sure, but I have to say to all of you young adults: just wait, it gets better!

Ladies, listen up! We certainly can’t forget about the handsome men in our life. Both, the ones we live with and the ones that raised us. June 17th is the day we get to spoil those guys and let them know just how much they mean to us. Yes, I know they get all giddy and act like 10 year olds on this day, but we owe ’em. I have a husband that likes attention and a father that likes “stuff” so it evens out nicely. There are tons of great places to get the boys’ gifts here in our community so you should be well covered. From power tools, to great dining, to a fantastic massage, they’re sure to be pleased with the surprises you shower. Tell the kids to break out the construction paper and make a little something from the heart. That always melts the fellas.

Be sure to follow us close on Facebook this month as we’ll start shar-ing some really good and LOCAL ideas. Also, look for requests for pics. With July around the corner we want to highlight some more local heroes in the military like we did last year. Just make sure when you log on that you’re doing it by the pool — and don’t forget the SPF. Last one in’s a rotten egg!
