Describe the idea for the activity It seems that every country has a different definition of commons. Lets take for
example the health care, which for the most part is provided by the government
in Europe but this is not the case in the USA. So what are the commons? Is the
term of commons applicable in each different context? What does this concept
bring in terms of new approaches and opportunities for citizens? The idea is to

France water is a hot topic now. Last March in Marseille took place an
Alternative World Water Forum. What is more, the number of local authorities,
that have decided to recreate a sort of public service for water, is growing.
The first goal is to have a closer look at the challenges as to how Water can be
accepted as a real common good.
The second goal of this activity is to broaden the discussion on the concept of
commons and the potential to unite the struggles against privatisation that are
currently led in Europe, to defend natural resources, social and cultural goods,
and public services.
So that people from different European countries, engaged in struggles to
defend cultural places or to put an end to ACTA, will come to open up the widerchallenges, related to the use of commons as a political concept.

P.L.A.Y. (Participation, Learning, Action, Youth) for Urban Dialogue (Youth in Action
Program)
Where is it based? Bologna
Describe the idea for the activity P.L.A.Y. is a project aiming to foster active citizenship and to improve mutual
understanding in European metropolitan areas. In this context, with UrbanDialogue we mean concrete practices reinforcing social cohesion inside or between
communities: promoting better relations with migrants and other cultures, fighting
exclusion and empowering minorities. The aim of the P.L.A.Y. project is to involve
young people from three European countries (Italy, United Kingdom, Spain) who
will work together to design, organize and perform a transnational Serious Urban
Game, a public playful event to be held at the same time in different metropolitan
areas across Europe with the objective to foster urban dialogue in a pleasant yet
effective way. Such ludic activity will require players to explore urban areas, to
interact with other citizens and minority groups collecting narratives and anecdotes
to be shared with the remaining players in other countries via a videoconferencing
system set up for the game. The core creative group for the P.L.A.Y. project will be composed by twelve young
persons from three European cities (Bologna, Italy; London, Barcelona), who will
actively participate in a process of design and urban exploration towards the

Describe the activity Bologna Local Group is now taking part in the activities of a place that normally is a
dormitory (one of the biggest in the city) but at the same time is the headquarters
of several associations/realities in Bologna, dealing with theatre, sport, recycling,
homeless people, etc, trying to open the structure to society and to bring people
from outside into the inside. Together with these associations we organize an
event every month; if the weather is good there is a garden that can be used where
the environment is really nice and comfortable. On Thursday 27 of September the
evening was led by European Alternatives and the screening of the video Citizens2:
Voices for a diverse Europe, output of the transnational project. The evening was a
great success and there was a great debate among the public, getting opinions also
from the people living in the dormitory, most of which were young migrants or
whose parents were migrants.

What is your idea for a transnational
activity/project called?
Living Library (no concrete name so far)
Where is it based? Prague
Describe the idea for the activity Organising a moving living library. After a pilot and a real living library in Prague,
once a month, or once in two months, the library would go to a different town in
the Czech republic (Brno, Ostrava, Olomouc, Cesk Budejovice, Plzen, Liberec,
etc). Hence, it would be a long term project; if it works, it could be a regular
activity of Transeuropa Prague.
List keywords/themes the activity relates
o (i.e. migration, economy, etc)
Stereotypes; tolerance; migration; minorities;
What will it achieve? Raising awareness, especially among young people, about stereotypes, racism,etc. What we would like to achieve is to set a regular dialogue between people;
between students, between Czechs and non-Czechs, etc. Make people think about
these important issues, share their experience, overcome their own prejudices,
teach their friends/acquaintances/any other people about these issues, etc.
What outputs will it deliver (i.e.
event/publication/campaign/training)?
Perhaps we could imagine to develop, in parallel to the living library sessions,
workshops and training for multiplicators who would intervene in schools.
Will it be a local activity, open to other
groups, or a network-wide activity?
It will be a local activity, though we can imagine to invite from time to time people
from other local groups to take part in the project.
What makes it transnational? The topics, the Books (who will be Czechs and non-Czechs, hopefully).
What help/skills would you like from
other groups to develop it?
Any advice from other groups which organised a living library is welcome.
What help/skills from European
Alternatives would you like?
Same.
What financial help would you like? We will apply for an Open Society Foundation grant; I think we dont require any

financial help, we will try to manage on our own.
What is your idea for a transnational
activity/project called?
Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue : Euro-Mediterranean identity
Where is it based? Paris
Describe the idea for the activity Europe and Mediterranean region have been always involved in active
exchanges because of their geographical position throughout the history. But
do we really know each other? Mediterranean is not only Spain, Italy and
Greece but we tend to forget that quite often. Today, following the global
economic crisis, the young people from this region are brought closer becausethey are facing the similar problems like high rates of unemployment and they
could easier relate to each other. But what is their actual image of their
counterparts? What is Europe for Mediterranean and Mediterranean for
Europe? What does it mean to them to be European or Mediterranean, or
both? Do these two terms overlap? Can we share a common identity?
List keywords/themes the activity relates to
i.e. migration, economy, etc)
Migration & Culture & Economy
What will it achieve? The aim of this project is to create a broader visibility and a more detailed
image of the Euro-Mediterranean region and to foster a cultural dialogue
among the young people from Europe and Mediterranean region (North Africa,
South Europe and if possible East Mediterranean)What outputs will it deliver (i.e.
event/publication/campaign/training)?
As a first step we would like to create a short film with young people from
Europe and the Mediterranean region asking them what Europe and
Mediterranean is for them. (We are still thinking about the exact question that
we will ask). The movie can be shown during the Transeuropa Festival Paris in
October (see with video team of Transeuropa +Sverine + people motivated
from other local groups and from Paris)
Seconds step - we will encourage publications of short essays on the topic Euro-
Mediterranean identity.
Third step - organise a discussion in Paris - Topic to be decided
Will it be a local activity, open to other
groups, or a network-wide activity?
We would like to develop this project with countries from the Mediterranean
region - Egypt and Spain (which are already taking part in the project Stopyouth precarity) but it will be interesting to have an even broader input from
Italy, Morocco, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon(?), Israel (?). We are also interested
into asking local groups, from non Mediterranean countries, to explore their
vision and expectations regarding the Euro-Mediterranean relationship.
What makes it transnational? Asking the young people about the idea of their counterparts from different
countries (to this point at least 3) and how they, if ever, can relate to each
other. What would they want to change in the relationship.
What help/skills would you like from other
groups to develop it?
Other groups can help by filming some short interviews (up to 1.30 min) with
young people and by suggesting questions for the discussion in Paris .They could
also send a representative to take part at this discussion. Furthermore, they canalso organise an event that would explore the idea of Europe/Mediterranean in
their community and how they relate to it.
What help/skills from EA would you like? Expertise on Euro-mediterranean dialogue + directing short movies
What financial help would you like? We will need financial support for organising the discussion (to rent a room
ex.g) and if possible to fly in some participants from other countries.

What is your idea for a transnational
activity/project called?
Spread the word and get more signatures.
Where is it based? Paris
Describe the idea for the activity Starting from April 2012 the tool European Citizens Initiative (ECI) is available
at transnational level. The Citizens Initiative allows civil society coalitions to
collect online or offline one million signatures in at least 7 EU member states topresent directly to the European Commission a legislative proposal forming the
base of a potential EU Directive.
We want to organise a public event and draw the attention of the public to the
problems of media monopolists and the political power that stays behind it and
that today the civil society has the power and the means to change something.
The main goal is to get as many signatures as possible for the EU Directive to
protect Media Pluralism and Press Freedom.
List keywords/themes the activity relates to
i.e. migration, economy, etc)
Freedom of expression/Free Media
What will it achieve? Public awareness of the European Citizens Initiative + signatures for the EU

Corruption
What is the activity/project called? Corruption, incredibly loud, extremely close, but
Where is it based? Prague
Describe the activity Forum on the issue of corruption, including: a keynote speech, presentations,
group workshops, and a final debate with conclusions.
List keywords/themes the activity relateso (i.e. migration, economy, etc)
Corruption; rule of law; organised crime; post-communist countries
What will it achieve? The goal is to raise awareness among Czech citizens about the issue of corruption;
although Czechs read everyday about corruption in the newspapers, they dont
really face this issue as citizens. They dont do anything against it, nor do they
seem to feel concerned, as citizens. We would like to make them think and talk
about the issue, in particular think about possible solutions at their level. We
would like to raise their involvement as conscious citizens in the flight against
corruption.
What outputs will it deliver (i.e.
event/publication/campaign/training)?
Online publication of the key points made during the event; perhaps also
publication of a final statement/policy paper.
s it a local activity, open to other groups,
or a network-wide activity?
It is a local activity.
What makes it transnational? We invite international speakers and the approach is transnational since the issue
itself is not limited to the Czech Republic.
Are other local groups are involved in it?
f so, which ones?
Other local groups are involved in helping us finding, or recommending us
interesting NGO/experts from their country to take part in our event.
What help/skills would you like from
other groups to develop it?
We would be happy to get more local groups involved in the preparation of the
event, in particular in helping us finding NGOs or experts to invite. We would also
like to get some feedback on our event: is it interesting for other local groups?
Would they like to organise something similar? Would they like to follow the
event through video conference?
What help/skills from European
Alternatives would you like?
It is difficult for us to invite speakers, who are not very reactive. Perhaps the
reason is that we are not known in Prague. Maybe it would be helpful for EA to
intervene here, to give us more weight; but I dont really know how. We would
also be happy if someone from EA could come to the event, for the same reason.
What financial help would you like? We planned the event without any budget; so we dont require any financial help,
though we would welcome it, of course (e.g. it would enable us to invite
international speakers to Prague instead of making them participate via video
conference).
