Lobero LIVE is serving up a season guaranteed to satisfy all tastes in music, culture, cuisine, dance and comedy.

The celebrated Jazz at the Lobero series returns with the Pat Metheny Unity Band, Dianne Reeves, Monterey Jazz Festival headliners including Dee Dee Bridgewater and Christian McBride, along with the dueling piano trios of Brad Mehldau Trio and The Bad Plus. You won’t want to miss a beat of this sizzling series.

Travel through American roots music at the Lobero with the finest strummers and pickers around. Jim Kweskin and Geoff Muldaur take jugband music to the blues, then Dr. John, “the night tripper,” joins the Blind Boys of Alabama for a journey down the bayou from Sprituals to Funk. The Punch Brothers will then take audiences beyond bluegrass in a rare Santa Barbara appearance.

A Series of Wits offers a glance at this election season through the dual lenses of the contemporary satire perfected by the Capitol Steps in September, and the timeless commentary of Mark Twain as played by Tony and Emmy Award winner Hal Holbrook in November. In between, dine on the delights of food, family and more with the saucy new play, Food Confessions, conceived by Nancy Nufer, produced by Rod Lathim and directed by Jenny Sullivan.

Mangia del’ Arte will once again captivate diners with feats of artistry both on the plate and on the stage. DANCEworks is thrilled to host New York’s Keigwin + Company in their eagerly anticipated 2013 residency, and It’s Magic! returns with all its wonderful parlor tricks and large-scale illusions.

CAPITOL STEPS WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY SEPT 5 & 6The Capitol Steps plan to bring down the house (and Senate) with their unique blend of music and political comedy. This performance can proudly claim to be the only place in America where you will find the two candidates running for President onstage singing show tunes. Founded by Congressional staffers, the group has been putting the “mock” in democracy for 30 years and has recorded 32 albums. Their most recent release is appropriately titled, Take the Money and Run for President.

This saucy new play exposes the unglazed truth about our own appetites, and the appetites of the ones we love. Patron ticket holders are invited to a speical pre-performance supper club.

HAL HOLBROOK IN MARK TWAIN TONIGHT! SATURDAY / NOV 10In this one-man Broadway show, Tony and Emmy Award winner Hal Holbrook portrays Mark Twain as a 70-year old humorist who skewers politicians, newspapermen and so-called patriots in an intimate look behind the famed author and American treasure. Holbrook adapted Twain’s own words for a commentary on slavery, religion and politics, mixing the satire with comic yarns about life on the Mississippi, and a very effective ghost story.
