Horizons in the communityHorizons@Home Security was updated on May 12, 2015In order to maintain a secure operating environment for

Horizons@Home our Data Processor has upgraded the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) configuration.

This update affects all Horizons@Home users. During their first log-in after the update on May 12, 2015 all members having Horizons@Home will be required to re-enroll in the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). During the re-enrollment you will be REQUIRED to: 1. Clear all session cookies from your device. Not doing this could cause older site cookies to be used and generate some misleading displays or errors. 2. Select a new image and passphrase. This can be the same information that was previously entered if available. 3. Select 3 new questions from the drop downs provided. You may see previously selected questions and they can be reused, with the same security answer if the question is available. How will this affect Mobiliti?There will be no change to the Mobiliti app. However you MUST complete the MFA enrollment via Horizons@Home PRIOR to logging into Mobiliti or you will not be permitted to access the app. Once you have completed the new MFA and re-authenticate with Mobiliti your experience will be unchanged. Childhood Education program. Paige achieved Presidential and Dean’s list while gaining her degree and works at Endless Mountain Learning Center. Paige helped a great deal setting up the new Art Gallery Children’s Art Exhibit. She loves working with younger children, helping them learn and grow. The schol-arship was presented to Ms. Spickerman during SUNY Broome’s Annual Student Awards Recognition Event on May 7th.

Financial Literacy Taughtto Windsor Middle Schoolers Once again Horizons Federal Credit Union was proud to participate in Windsor Middle School’s Up With Life Day on May 15th. Anton Arnoldine and Miranda Simmons discussed financial planning with students during three 30-minute sessions. Financial topics covered included needs versus wants, budgeting, savings and debit versus credit. Providing a solid foundation for financial success at a young age was the goal of the presentation. There was a lot of good questions and participation in each of the sessions!

Annual Stand for Children 2015 Event

Horizons volunteered again at the Annu-al Stand for Children 2015 Event “Calling all Superheroes!” at Rec Park in Bing-hamton on June 4th. This wonderful event focuses on helping young peo-ple recognize their inner strengths and making them see how these strengths have power. The event is free and includes youth activities, opportunities to create, enjoy music, food, performances and more!Horizons set-up a “money bag” bean bag toss game where kids won prizes. HFCU also gave away “slap bracelets” with super powers written on them. HFCU enjoyed encouraging the super kids that attended the event this year! Seton Catholic Central senior Maggie Novitske receives a $250 scholarship from HorizonsThe scholarship and a certificate of achievement were presented to Maggie at a small reception in her honor held at Horizons’ main office in June. Maggie was selected from several applicants who participated in the Credit Union Association of New York’s 2015 Scholarship Program.

Horizons Raises $ for Heart WalkHorizons Federal Credit Union staff partici-pated in the 2015 Binghamton Heart Walk, donating $6,200 to the American Heart Association in the process. Funds were raised with help from our generous HFCU members, through fundraising drives and family and friends charitable donations. The Heart Walk, held Sunday April 12th at SUNY Broome’s Ice Center on Upper Front Street featured a two lap walk around the campus, totaling three miles. More than 2,500 people participated in the Southern Tier Heart Walk, raising a total of $221,080. The American Heart Association is build-ing healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke, through public health education. Horizons FCU was a proud sup-porter of their mission and look forward to participating in 2016.

Horizons Awards Scholarshipto SUNY Broome Student

Horizons Federal Credit Union awarded a $500 scholarship to Paige Spickerman, a student in the SUNY Broome Early

Maggie is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, Softball team, and is the captain of the Cheerleading squad. She is a Binghamton Zoo vol-unteer, a member of the Youth Group and the Dance Ministry. Maggie boasts an award-winning resume, including receiving the S.A.I.N.T. Award in AP Environmental and Economics.It is our pleasure to award this year’s Horizons Federal Credit Union scholarship to Maggie Novitske, a young woman who has shown compassion for the community and dedication to her academic career!

Horizons at the Spiedie Fest & Balloon Rally

Horizons Federal Credit Union is proud to once again support the Spiedie Fest & Balloon Rally. This year’s event will take place July 31st-August 2nd at Otsiningo Park in Binghamton. Horizons will be sponsoring the festivities and have a tent at Spiedie Fest, with free balloons, crafts, and activities for children!
