We are going to look at some facts about
seagulls.

Seagulls

A seagull is a type of sea bird. There are over 20 species of seagull that can be found all over the planet (even on the Arctic and Antarctica).
Seagull Facts
Seagull are very old creatures. They have existed on the planet for at least 30 to 33 million years!
Seagull are treated as pests in some parts of the world because they are noisy, release lots of droppings and destroy private properties. There are lots of seagulls in the wild. These birds are not on the list of endangered animals.

Gulls are omnivores which mean they eat meat and plants.They eat a variety of food such as: fish, insects, eggs, and much more. They will try just about any food, even raiding picnic areas and landfills for left over food.

Talk to your family member about the following questions:
• What could we do to stop seagulls from eating the wrong type of food?
• Can you remember what kind of food seagulls eat?• What should seagulls eat?

Activity - Draw a picture of a seagull. - Label the seagull, such as: 'beak', 'legs' and 'wings'.
For a challenge you could write a sentence about what seagulls like to eat.
Success Criteria is on the next page.

Success Criteria:
Segment each word out loud, and write the graphemes in order.
Remember to use a capital letter at the start.
Use finger spaces in between every word.
Can you write some tricky words?
Remember to put a full stop at the end of the sentence.
Make sure you follow the success criteria when writing your sentences.
