As a young child, I remember constantly getting
frustrated at not being able to complete an art
project, or nish a task the way I wanted to. Id say
to my mother, I cant do it, I cant nish it, I just
cant! And shed always reply, theres no such
word as cant. Little did I know the importance of
that mantra. Only now, as a mother myself, can
I truly appreciate her advice. I would have neverstarted LMNOP if it wasnt for my amazing mum
teaching me to say I can!Thats one mantra I
will denitely be teaching my son.
Youll meet another amazing mother, Jaime
Halward in this issue of LMNOP. She tells us how
she juggles a successful business with motherhood
a ne balance many of us tread everyday.
Youll also nd a bundle of Easter fun packed into
these pages. Plus, new columns like our Out &
About guide, a book review from LMNOPs library
and Home-made, which will showcase some great
art projects made at home!
Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who has
subscribed and contributed to this second issue
of LMNOP. If youre only seeing LMNOP for the
rst time, dont forget to subscribe by visiting

Enjoy the wonderful treats ahead and have fun
this Easter!

Art and alphabet come together in this playful set of 26 cards, depicting
the cut-paper collages of New York-based artist Ida Pearle. Idas take on
traditional illustrated alphabets are poetic narratives inspired by everyday
events in a childs life.
Use them as decorative wall cards, and display them with the twine and
mini wood clothes pins that come with the set. We bet youll want to hang
them in a common area, just so you can admire them too.

I couldnt
live without
A Precious Charm of Nates
when we are apart. And my
boys Nate and my husband
Terry make my world turn.
What were reading
at the moment
Nathan and I are reading
The Snail and the Whale
by Julia Donaldson
and Axel Schefer.
When I have 30
minutes to myself
I call my mum in Perth. We
speak daily and she loves an
update on our family life. Its an
interstate hug for me too.
LMNOP: How were you inspired to start your business?
JH: I always wanted a business doing something creative. It wasnt until I returned
to work part-time after maternity leave that I needed to have something of Nathans
with me when we were apart. I started making his ngerprint charms as a comfort.
Family and friends wanted ngerprint charms of their children and the business grew
from there. It was a big move to leave the corporate world, but it is all worthwhile.
LMNOP: Whats your favourite piece in the Precious Charms range?
JH: I love the Heavy Link Necklace with Hoop Charm and the Choker with Bauble
Charm, both in Silver. They can be dressy or casual depending on what you wear
them with. The charms are detachable and can be worn on other jewellery.
LMNOP: What advice would you give to other mums trying to start a business?
JH: Choose something you are passionate about. You have to be self-motivated
and be prepared to get back to work after youve done the bed-time routine. It
also really helps to have some like-minded people to talk with. To give you an
encouraging push when you need it, and to celebrate your successes.LMNOP: How do you juggle your business with motherhood?
JH: I am really lucky as my husband is wonderful and we share family and home
responsibilities (thanks Tez!). He understands the pressures and is so supportive.
I work four days a week, have Fridays off with Nate and every weekend is purely
family time for the three of us.
LMNOP: The best piece of advice youll ever give your son?
JH: Be kind to yourself and trust your inner voice if you have a niggling doubt
about someone or something, trust it.
Precious Charms
preciouscharms.com.au
Jaimes unique, custom-made jewellery
business was born when she returned to workafter being on maternity leave. She missed
her son Nate so much, the need to have him
close by gave her the idea to carry a
precious charm his ngerprint.

Lots of family homes generate craft materials on a
daily basis. Empty cereal boxes, plastic containers,
old newspapers and toilet rolls. Made at home craft
just takes a little imagination, a little time, and a clear
working space. Its also a great opportunity to catch
up on a little conversation with your kids. Make the
time and create something home-made today.

Pisces
Life is always interesting with
young Pisces. They can be
theatrical and creative, but at
times overly sensitive. With
love and appreciation, theyll
stay on the right path and
resist the urge to daydream
too much. Teach them to be
practical and steer them away
from negative inuencers.
Virgo
The Virgo ankle-biter is
intelligent and inquiring. They
have a ne attention to detail,
and are happy to wile away
the hours with craft, books or
intricate hobbies. They may tend
to be sensitive and over-react,
so keep their mind stimulated
and everything in order.
Aquarius
Parents of Aquarian tots may
wonder whether they have a
child genius in their midst. This
little maverick will question
everything from sport and
science, to art and authority.
Give them an outlet for
self-expression or theyll feel
fenced in. Group games and
challenges can help them excel.
Leo
Your little lion is a born actor
and loves the limelight. They
can be bossy to get their way,
but on the whole are happy
little cubs. Encourage them in
the arts, sport and drama, and
teach them to help others to
nurture their natural leadership
abilities.
Libra
The Libra child is sociable and
charming. They generally mix
well with adults and children,
although have a tendency
to be inuenced too easily.
Encourage your littlie to
see both sides, and develop
their own opinions. Your best
approach is logical chit-chat.
Scorpio
Parents will have fun getting
to the bottom of Scorpios
feelings. They tend to hide their
emotions and you must earn
their trust. When you do win
them over, theyll be loyal for
life. Channel their energies into
activities they love and theyll
be passionate and dedicated.
Sagittarius
Fun, games and the outdoors
will appeal to the bite-sized
Sagittarius. They love to explore
sometimes attempting
acrobatic feats. They are great
with pets and mix well with
other children. Feed their sense
of adventure with sporting
activities, trips to the zoo and
holidays to exciting places.
Capricorn
Your little Capricorn is a
hard worker and achiever.
Motivate them to set a goal
and dedicate themselves to
whatever interests them. They
benet from having an older
mentor and generally respect
authority. With guidance and
perseverance, they can soar!
Aries
The Aries child loves to explore
and is prone to taking risks, so
extra monitoring is advised.
Help your little boss channel
their energies into fun, sports
and games where they can
shine. Nurture their leadership
qualities and dont be afraid
to bring out the naughty stool
when they throw temper tanties!
Taurus
Your affectionate little Taurus
is intrigued by the senses. They
gravitate to music, gardens
and paints. Give them building
blocks to keep their hands busy
and crayons to nurture their
artistic talents. These littlies
are good with pets and look
after them with loving care.
Gemini
Your social Gemini loves
company and can be a
chatterbox on the telephone.
They are quick learners with a
love for books and usually pick
up reading early on. Try to keep
them focused and stimulate
their mind because they can
have a short attention span.
Cancer
The Cancer tot is very loving
and family-oriented, but tends
to be sensitive. Family upsets
can put them in a spin, so be
sure to reassure your little crab
that everythings OK even if
things dont go swimmingly.
Nurture their creative side and
theyll stay positive and social.
