At Necker, AP-HP* builds a new hospital for the children* AP-HP = Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris

lll A modern hospital, opened on its neighbourhood___________________________

For more than 200 years the hospital Necker-enfants malades looks after all the children.It became a hospital-university of reference in numerous special fields for the children and the adults.Over the years the hospital grew and extended on 8 hectares and 28 buildings.Today Necker leads an ambitious plan of reconstruction of its old buildings to improve the quality of the care of the patients and the working conditions of the nursing.

lll A building for a first-rate medicine of nearness_____________________________

Named Laennec this new building will gather togethe on 35,000 sq.m. the activities of surgery and resuscitation, emergencies, imagery, neonatology, cardiology, nephrology, paediatric gastroenterology and maternity.The major medical functions will be distributed by whole levels what is today essential for the quality and the speed of the care.The future building will include 400 beds and cradles (among which 100 beds for resuscitation and intensive care), 20 surgery rooms, 60 rooms for extern consultation, a high level platform of imagery (MRI, scan,…).It will welcome every year 70,000 paediatric emergencies, 40,000 hospitalized, 160,000 consultants and 3,500 births.

lll A building designed to soften the stay of the children and their parents_______________________________________

In spite of gravity of the disease, the hospital world also has to be a warm place of life full of humanity.The inside of the new building will specially be designed for the children. Even if the disease takes an important place, it will always have time there for the school, the entertainments, the surprised animations and the opening on the world. The parents can stay with their child: except the resuscitations. All the rooms will be individual and equipped with a seat-bed.Some spaces will even specially be designed for them: lounges for families, leaving rooms to have lunch in the service, space for meeting…At the ground floor of the new building there will be also a family area, a coffee shop, a gifts shop, a library and play areas for brothers and sisters on visit

lll A project carried together by the medical community and the families__________________________

The hospital Necker will welcome, thanks to this great modernization, the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul’s and the Paris Institut de Puériculture’s paediatric teams.The new group so created will be one of the most modern and most successful of the world.All the medical, nursing and administrative teams of the hospital Necker are mobilized for making of this ambitious project a real success.The exceptional contribution of each allows pursuing the care in the whole of the services during the works. Indeed some hyper specialized services exist nowhere else in the Paris region (such as neurosurgery, cardiac emer-gencies of the newborn child…) and cannot either be interrupted or moved.

lll A green and opened hospital____________________________________

In the heart of the hospital the large central garden will be fitted out in full ground with the plantation of 200 new trees and numerous flowerbeds.This green space will be a place of life and relaxation, walk and games for the children, but also for all the local residents thanks to the big standing path which will connect the streets de Sèvres and de Vaugirard.Large-scale project in the heart of the city, the new building Laennec will offer at the corner of the boulevard du Montparnasse and street de Sèvres a new face printed by modernity.Perfectly leaned against the adjoining edifice its double glass front will bring lightness and transparency to the building.A planted greenhouse between the street de Sèvres and the space of consultations of the ground floor will offer to the passers-by a green and soothing atmosphere.The new building planned to be easily accessible to all is designed with a great environmental concern: control of the energy consumptions, choice of not toxic and not allergenic materials…

At the request of the local residents, the mansion Texier will be deconstructed then reconstructed n the park at the end of the works.
