    Type of Course: A five years degree course

    Pattern: Semester

    Award of the Degree: Degree will be awarded for those passing

    In five years as per rules and regulations.

    2. All examination for B.A. LL.B shall be governed by ordinance. Change in

    statutes/ordinance/rules/regulation/syllabi & books may from time to time be made by

    amendment and/or by redrafting and a student shall accept and comply with and abide by any

    change that applies to semester/year he has not completed at the time of the change.

    3. DURATION OF THE COURSE:

    The course of study for the examination shall extend over a period of five years as an

    integrated course. A student shall follow the prescribed course as given in the teachingand examination schemes of the course to which he is admitted.

    4. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:

    A candidate who has passed 10+2 examination of a recognized Board of

    education in India or abroad with 50% marks in any discipline in aggregate shall be

    eligible for admission to B.A.,LL.B. 1st

    Semester class of first year. However, a candidate

    belonging to SC / ST obtaining a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate in the qualifying

    examination shall be considered eligible for admission to the said class.

    Provided that he is not more than 21 years of age on 1st

    July in the year in which

    admission is sought.

    5 Condonation of shortage of attendance :

    The shortage of attendance up to the limits specified below may be condoned on valid reasons :

    (i) A student can have a relaxation of 10% attendance on medical and special ground to the

    satisfaction of Dean and additional 5% can be granted by Vice-Chancellor.

    (ii) The N.C.C./N.S.S. cadets sent out to parades and camps and such students who are deputed by

    the University to take part in games, athletics or cultural activities and to attend campus

    interviews may for the purpose of attendance be treated as present for the days of these absence

    in connection with the aforesaid activities and that period shall be added to their subject wise

    attendance.

    6. ELIGIBILITY FOR APPEARING IN EXAMINATION

    a. All students are required to fulfill 75% attendance rule in each subject and there

    must be 75% attendance of the student before he/she could be permitted to appear

    in the examination.

    b. The condonation up to 30% can be considered by the HOD/Dean of the Faculty

    for specified cogent.

    c The students will be required to attend the minimum 75% attendance of the total

    number of classes held in each of the subjects/ courses, moot court exercises in a

    semester. However, as per rule 4 of the Bar Council of India Rules, Part IV, Section-A,the Dean, Faculty of Law may permit a student to appear at the examination, if he has

    completed 66% attendance of the total number of classes held in each of the subjects/

    courses, moot court exercises in a semester. No student shall be eligible to appear in the

    end term examination who does not comply with the attendance rules.

    Deemed attendance: A student shall be deemed to be present in the class, if he

    attends following events:

    (i) Representing University in Moot Court competition(ii) Paper presentation in seminar / workshop / conference

    (iii) Participation in legal aid camps

    (iv) Representing the University in Sports / games /athletics meets

    The deemed attendance shall not exceed 15 days of attendance per semester. In

    exceptional circumstances, the Dean of the Faculty may sanction travel time of

    maximum 5 days per semester.

    Award of Degree, Division and Rank

    Degree will be awarded to the students who have passed in all the subjects of the all 10th

    semesters.

    (i) First B.A. LL.B. to Fifth B.A. LL.B. a student declared pass in a examination will be awarded

    division as follows:

    First Class If a student secure a minimum of 60 percent.

    Second Class If a student secure a minimum of 50 percent.

    (A) The student must be a regular student of the Faculty of Law, Jodhpur National

    University, Jodhpur and have fulfilled the attendance criterion of the university.

    (B) The nomination for award of University Gold Medial will to be approved by the

    Chairperson, Jodhpur National University, Jodhpur and his decision will be the final.

    REVALUATION: Revaluation can be done on the request of student with requisite fee as per

    Rules laid down by university.

    Working out of result

    Scheme of five years integrated course and examination of Bachelor of Arts &

    Bachelor of Laws

    (i) The five years integrated course of B.A., LL.B. will consist of 10 semesters i.e.

    two semesters in every academic year. In every semester, teaching will be done atleast

    for four months.

    (ii) The candidates will be admitted to the 1

    st

    semester of first year andthereafter will be required to qualify all the 10 semesters consequently to earn the

    degree of B.A., LL.B. The teaching will be through the court room exercises as a novel

    and innovative teaching methodology with emphasis on the blending of theoretical

    knowledge with practical learning, skills of articulation and development of right

    attitude amongst the students.

    (iii) As per the provisions of Bar Council of India Rules, Part IV, section A, rule 2

    (b), out of five years course, the first two years shall be devoted to study of pre-law

    coursesas necessary qualifications for admission to three-year course of study in law to

    be commenced thereafter. Rule 6(2) of the said rules provide that modification of the

    listed papers may be made keeping in view the requirements of legal education forthose who enter Part II of course from other faculties. Rule 7 of the said Rules lays

    down that individual universities may frame their own rules of admission to Part II in

    such manner that post-graduate as well as graduates may be able to get admission.

    (iv) As per provisions of Bar Council of India Rules, Part IV, section A, rule 3(1) the

    law education as prescribed for five year course shall be through whole time law college

    or University Department. Rule 3(2) further says that a college or University Department

    will be deemed to be whole time college for the purpose of rule 3(1), if the working time

    of the college or the University Department, as the case may be, extends to at least

    thirty hours of working per week including contact and correspondence programme,

    tutorials, home assignment, library, clinical work etc. provided that the actual time for

    class-room lectures is not less than 20 hours per week.

    (v) As per provisions of rule 8(3) of the above rules, the library of the Faculty of

    law of the University will remain open for at least eight hours on every working day.

    SCHEME OF EXAMINATION

    (1)The maximum marks at the examination of each paper in each semester shall be 100, which

    shall be divided as under:

    A. Term written examinationat the end of semester 70 Marks

    B. Internal awards - 30 Marks

    (i) Monthly tests before the semester examination

    (ii) Project work and Presentation thereof -

    (iii) Case law study

    (iv) Attendance and conduct of the student

    (2) A candidate who has completed a regular course of study in the 1stSemester

    of B.A., LL.B. shall be eligible to appear at B.A.LL.B. 1st

    semester term examination. In

    order to pass in each paper, a candidate will be required to obtain 50% marks in the

    term written paper and internal marks taken together. If a candidate fails to secure 40%

    marks in the term written paper and internal marks taken together, he will be deemedto have failed in that paper.

    (3) A candidate who, after passing B.A.,LL.B. 1st

    Semester examination or having

    obtained 50% marks in at least 4 papers and has completed a regular course of study in

    II semester of B.A.,LL.B class shall be eligible to appear at B.A.,LL.B IInd

    Semester

    examination.

    (4) A candidate who, after passing B.A.,LL.B. IInd

    semester examination orhaving

    obtained 50% marks atleast in four papers of semester I and semester II has completeda regular course of study in III semester of B.ALL.B. class, shall, be eligible to appear at

    B.A.,LL.B. IIIrd

    semester examination. He has to appear in remaining one paper / two

    papers of semester I also.

    (6) A candidate who, after passing B.A.,LL.B. IIIrd

    semester examination or having

    obtained 50% marks in atleast four papers of Semester II & III and has passed in

    semester I, and has completed a regular course of study in the IVth

    semester of

    B.A.,LL.B. class shall be eligible to appear at B.A.,LL.B. IV semester examination. He has

    to appear in remaining one paper / two papers of semester II also.

    (7) A candidate who, after passing B.A.,LL.B. IV semester examination or having

    obtained 50% marks in atleast four papers of semester III & IV and has passed in

    semester II also, and has completed a regular course of study in Vth

    semester of

    B.A.,LL.B. class shall be eligible to appear at B.A.,LL.B. Vth

    semester examination. He has

    to appear in remaining one / two papers of semester III also.

    (8) A candidate who, after passing B.A.,LL.B. Vth

    semester examination, or has

    obtained 50% marks in atleast four papers of Semester IV & V and has passed semesterIII, has completed a regular course of study in the VI semester B.A.,LL.B. class, shall be

    eligible to appear at B.A.,LL.B. VI semester examination. He has to appear in remaining

    one / two papers of semester IV also.

    (9) A candidate who, after passing B.A.,LL.B. VIth

    semester examination, or has

    obtained 50% marks in atleast four papers of Semester V & VI and has passed semester

    not want to study further, shall be awarded a degree of B.A. LLB, but such degree shall

    not entitle him to be enrolled as an advocate. A candidate, who has completed regular

    course of study of all the Ten semesters, and has passed in all the Ten semesters

    examination of B.A.,LL.B. , will be awarded a degree of B.A.,LL.B. subject to the

    provisions of the Act, statutes, Ordinances, rules and regulations of the University.

    (15) The marks obtained by a candidate in aggregate of all the ten semesters will

    be put together for classification of result. A candidate who has obtained in B.A.,LL.B.

    (semester I to semester X taken together), 50% marks in aggregate and less than 60%

    marks, will be placed in Second Division and a candidate who has obtained 60% or more

    marks will be placed in First Division.

    (16) Those students, who will not be declared successful and will like to appear

    as ex-student shall be required to complete the practical course of various papers withina period of about 12 weeks. Further, they will be required to pay the required tuition

    fee, as may be prescribed by the University from time to time.
