THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2015 FIELD TRIP DAY AT THE LIVINGSTON PARISH FAIR K- 12

Thank you to those schools which joined us last year for Field Trip Day!!!

It was a great day for all of us. We hope you will help us celebrate our 4th annual field trip day by allowing your school

children to join us for a day at the fair. The fair is not open to the public on field trip day. Only those school groups who

have purchased advanced tickets will be allowed to participate.

Students will have the opportunity to come to the fair on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 9:00 am til 2:00pm. Students

will be able to purchase advance tickets to ride for the day. Purchase price will be a pay one price of $20 per person.

This will include all rides (remember there are height requirements on some of the rides), petting zoo and pony rides.

Height requirements are for the safety of everyone—please obey the ride attendant if you are asked not to ride.

The school exhibit building and the livestock barns will be open for the students to walk through to see the animals and

school displays.

Concessions will be open as well as game vendors but these will require additional money as each student is responsible

for any extra $$ they may want to spend. Lunch is the responsibility of the student. In some cases the school lunch room

may provide boxed lunches for the students—others may want to purchase something at the fair. This is optional and left

up to each individual group. If my staff can assist with setting you up with our concession vendors for lunch please let us

know. Please make sure your students have lunch. The gym will be open and available for you to gather your group to eat

lunch or you may picnic on the grounds or under one of our pavilions. Buses should drive in the front gate and travel

between the office and Commercial building/Kitchen (veer to the right). This will assist us in getting the children unloaded

safely. Children will be unloaded and buses can circle around to park in front of the green barn.

The school who sells the most field trip tickets will receive a cash award from the Livingston Parish Fair and

Mitchell Brothers.

All tickets will be presold. A final head count will need to be turned in no later than Friday, October 2nd by 2:00PM.

List by classroom/school can be emailed to [email protected]. Tickets will be sorted for each class and ready for the

students when they arrive. Teachers are not required to pay. All chaperones and students should prepay and all

(including teachers) should be included in the head count for armbands. Please make one check payable to

Livingston Parish Fair for the purchase of the total number of tickets for your school. Checks should be mailed to LPFA,

P. O. Box 655, Livingston, LA 70754.

We hope each year we can add to the “field trip day” and make it a great day for everyone. There are many educational

opportunities throughout the week of the fair. Let’s strive to make this a fun learning experience!!!

Sincerely,

Lynn Sibley, President

LIVINGSTON PARISH FAIR

FUN BOWL

Livingston Parish Teachers

Dear Sir or Madam:

We, of the Livingston Parish Fair Association, would like to invite you and your students to participate in this year’s

Livingston Parish Fair Fun and Academic Bowl. This annual event has something for every age group (K-8th grade).

Students are divided into three categories:

Elementary age students (K-2 & 3-5th) will participate on Friday, October 9th.

Junior High age students (6th-8th) will participate on Thursday, October 8th.

The Fun Bowl for junior high age students begins Thursday afternoon with registration at 4:45 PM. Games begin at 5

PM.

The Fun Bowl for elementary age students begins Friday morning with registration at 8:45 am. Games begin at 9 am.

Each team will consist of 8 students, but each school may bring up to 32 students to participate in the different

events. (For example: If your school brings only 8 students, they will have to participate in every event. If your school

brings 9 to 32 students, you will need to rotate students onto the 8 student team so that all get to participate in at least

one event.) Only one team from each school may participate in each event. A representative from each school

(principal, asst. principal, teacher, or parent) must accompany the participants from their school.

Junior high age students will also compete in an Academic Bowl that will test their knowledge of local, national, and

international events. Trophies will be awarded to the first, second, and third place schools. The number of events, the

exact format of the Academic Bowl, and the length of the Fun Bowl will depend on the number of participating

schools.

If your school would like to participate, or if you would like more information, please call Ruben Spillman Jr. @

225-664-4189 or Robin Sibley @ 225-678-7093.

Sincerely,

Ruben Spillman Jr. (LPFA)
