Welcome  Home

To  The  Place  Where  Living  Sky  Dwells

Twelve years and many lifetimes ago, seeds for the Living Sky Foundation were planted. These seeds have been nurtured by the will to restore our lives back to a Utopian-like society; a society where all people are ruled by love and compassion; a society that is inspired by trust and honor; a society that lives by the will to do good by each other; a society that serves the earth in an endless mission; a society that strives to lead healthy, unselfish, creative, and a fulfilling existence. Governed by the sun, the moon, and the stars and ruled by the planets, our intentions are to simply regain a sense of direction in a constant effort to re-store balance in nature and re-unite in a sacred connection to our Mother Earth. Thus began a conscious decision to turn off artificial light in our attempt to protect and celebrate every living thing under the sky. We hope you will join us in this dance and commit to our motto: “Enjoy this Lifetime.”

Earth  Allegiance

1

In celebration of Earth Day, as well as the 75th anniversary of the Shenandoah National Park, students from Hearthstone, Belle Meade and Rappahannock County Public Schools in Sperryville, Virginia united for a two-day collaboration to illustrate a new world pledge of allegiance. “Earth Allegiance” written by Cherl Crews, Founder of the Living Sky Foundation, evolved when the pledge of Allegiance had banned from morning announcements in public schools for containing the word God. Living Sky was inspired to create a pledge that would not offend any one system of beliefs, and that would unite all people of the planet in a common vision of love, honor, celebration and respect for all life on earth.

The focus of the mural was to stress the urgent need for environmental protection of all endangered species and our natural habitats, as well as to recognize organizations and individuals around the globe who make preserving and protecting the environment their honored work and daily existence. The students began the project by researching more than 500 endangered creatures and plants native to Rappahannock County, Virginia in the Shenandoah National Park areas from information they gathered using the 1. (See page 4) BIOTA database found listed through the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, dgif.gov. The group then discussed, sketched and painted images of the wildlife from what they learned, ultimately creating a beautiful

work of art. The Living Sky Foundation, who commissioned Connie and Tim Friesen of “Arts Vitally Enrich Communities” to direct the project, sponsored project Pledge in its entirety. “We hope to inspire youth in other areas around the globe to come together for the common good of art and community, and dedicate good intentions toward the planet. The mural we created could be used as a template by other schools or groups to draw attention to species native to their own backyards that are a concern for conservation “stated Crews.

The mural went straight to the top of the mountain, that is, where it was graciously received by over a thousand invited guests at it’s unveiling at the Shenandoah's National Parks, 75th Anniversary and Rededication Ceremony on June 25th, 2011. Superintendent Martha Bogle in her re- dedication speech recited “And now my friends, in this year, 2011, we seek to pass on to our children a richer land and a stronger nation. Let us join together for the future as we have so well in the past. Let us renew the promise of preservation, and in it, the rich and boundless promise of Shenandoah. Let us all take pleasure in rededicating Shenandoah National Park for succeeding generations of Americans. For the recreation and for the re-creation which they shall find here.” The Living Sky Foundation has donated the mural to the Shenandoah National Park at Skyline Drive, Virginia in anticipation of permanent placement in the park for all to enjoy.

*The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF), in conjunction with the Conservation Management Institute (CMI) at Virginia Tech, has developed an online database system that makes the most current data on Virginia’s wildlife readily available to the public. This system, the Virginia Fish and Wildlife Information Service (VAFWIS) contains information on over 2,000 of Virginia’s wildlife species. The VAFWIS can be accessed by pointing your browser to www.dgif.state.va.us, clicking on "Wildlife" and then on "Wildlife Information Online." The databases associated with the VAFWIS contain information from numerous sources including VDGIF monitoring efforts, collections by researchers permitted through the scientific collection process, peer-reviewed journal articles and museum collections. There are numerous databases associated with the VAFWIS. Of those, the following are the most widely used:

1. The Biota of Virginia Database (BOVA): An information system developed in 1981 as a cooperative research project between VDGIF and Virginia Tech that contains information from peer reviewed literature on over 2,000 of Virginia’s wildlife species. The BOVA (Biota of Virginia) database provides life history, distribution, environmental associations, management, and food habit information for the wildlife species at occur in Virginia.

We walk upon this planet dressed up like “Spirits in Costume.” At the Living Sky Foundation we have been enlightened to recognize the soul of each individual. This train of thought has become the focus for our introduction in “Albert’s Lessons in Compassion.” Albert Third-eye-nstien, a little alien that lives inside the heart space of each and all of us, has found hir (higher intelligence resident) voice and provides us with the simple instructions on keeping our aliens light bright in this Children’s Manual for the Millennium…How to teach communication, kindness, and compassion in a civilization that needs it badly! The recipe for our healthy existence as presented in this manual, requires only; Love, Sunlight, Clean Water, Fresh Air, Good Herbs, Exercise and Rest, to re-activate our pineal glands and awaken our connection to the Cosmos.

As we become more aware of the dangers of chemical additives and genetically modified foods, there is growing concern to what we have tolerated by allowing the commonplace consumption of unhealthy ingredients in our children’s regular snacks. If you are fortunate, you are the only one providing your children with wholesome, fresh food on a daily basis, but more then likely, especially if your children are in the public school system or cared for by another provider, your youth are being contaminated by the food that is being handed to them. The food our children consume not only affects their health and wellness, but also how they absorb the information that is presented to them throughout their day, as well as throughout their lifetimes. Just take a look at the snacks machines in your schools, hospitals, health and fitness centers and parks. Reading the ingredients before hand, when your child choses from the snack machine is not usually not an option until you have put your money and received your prize. But take a look at those snacks in your local market and you will see that unless you make a conscious effort to reduce unhealthy ingredients, the snacks your children consume are filled with the following sinful chemical additives, artificial ingredients and cancer causing carcinogens.

1. ARTIFICIAL COLORS/DYES; Cancer causing, link to learning behavior disorders.

2. CAFFINE; Increases anxiety, heart rate, diabetes, cancer 3. HYDROGANATED OIL; can lead to heart disease, diabetes, cancer. 4. HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP; Leads to problems with obesity,

diabetes, kidney and liver damage. 5. SALT; in excess (our daily consumption of processed foods) causes high

blood pressure, kidney stones, osteoporosis and bone loss. 6. CHEMICAL PRESERVATIVES/SWEETENERS, Including Sulfur

Dioxide, Artificial Nitrates, all Modified and Fortified Foods, MSG, Saccharine, Aspartame; Cancer causing, toxic buildup, learning disabilities.

7. BLEACH; Major cancer causing carcinogen, decrease in healthy pineal gland function. Bleach is the most harmful dioxin used and carries with it residual build up in our bodies eventually reaching toxic levels. Bleach strips the body of essential nutrients that assist in creating our healthy immune and nervous systems. “Good ol’ white bread, white paper, white sugar…in fact most everything white has been bleached and the reasons for using bleach are only to kill something! If it’s white, more than likely it wasn’t born that way.

8. FLORIDE; Accumulates in the body calcifying tissues, such as bones and the pineal gland. Used as an additive for tooth decay, Fluoride or Fluoridation (a general practice where it is added to public drinking water) is dangerous and un-controllable. Infants and children excrete less fluoride through their kidneys taking up to 80% of it into their bones.

Healthy snacks are essential for optimum performance through out the day. What is your child snacking on…if it is not fresh, organic fruit or vegetables, nuts or grain bars, natural, un-buttered popcorn, un-chlorinated, un-fluorinated water then you need to make a change. Awareness and perseverance should be the first steps in replacing snack machines with yummy, healthier eats. Healthy food means healthy body, healthy body means healthy children and healthy children are more calm, retentive, observant and happy. Proper nutrition goes beyond the Government label.
