What to considerCan you be compatible with another person?

Can you financially live alone?

Can you trust them?

What should the rules be?

Finances:Average cost is $650 per month!Utilities can range from $150 to $300 a monthFood can range from $75 to $150 a monthAnd on top of all of that you still have to pay insurance on your car, renters insurance and pay for the gas to go in your car.

Knowing Compatability:Can you trust some to:Pay their half of the rent on time? Not steal from you?Eat their own food?Keep the noise down if need be?Not have wild parties without planning?

Knowing Compatibility continuedWhat are your interest? Do they coincide with your roommate?Do the two of you have the same music taste? (This is important because you will most likely hear a lot of the music they play.)Do you and your roommate have the same goals? Because if not, you will have conflict if youre a book worm and they are a party animal.

Trust:You need to be able to trust someone that you are going to live with. If you cant establish trust in the relationship, then you cant possibly live together. You need to do things in the beginning to build that trust. Things such as rules and you need to both fallow these rules.

Simple rules to fallow:Labeled foods are off limits if they are not your labels.Dont share razors, toothbrushes, combs, etc.Plan parties together.Plan out study nights.Establish time that you can be left alone to study or think.

Simple rules continued:Always be wearing decent under garments when out of the bathroom or bedroom.(no nudist stuff)Split the rent evenly. If you have to pay it all one month, then they can pay it all the next.Failure to do so should result in a new roommate.Fallow these simple rules and add some of your own in order to live a peaceful life with your roommate.

Remember:Find out if your compatible

Know if you can trust them

Set some ground rules
