Introduction

Let me start off by saying I love you. I really

don’t mean any harm. Now since we have the

pleasantries out of the way, we can get started.

This first book is about you and how you can get

you out of the way of your dream! Delatorro McNeal1

stated, “ Build your dream or someone will hire you

to build theirs.” That is a fact! You are on jobs that

you can’t stand but there is this yearning on the

inside of you; a thirst that won’t quit – that is your

dream gnawing at your very being trying to get out.








You know the symptoms, tension in your back

and neck, people getting on your nerve, and most of

all, the all famous line, “ I am worth more than this!”

You are and you can. I am not taking any

prisoners. You are no longer the victim. Blame

yourself. When it is all said and done the decisions

YOU make will determine the life that YOU will live -

PERIOD! I do understand that life has happen but at

this juncture in your life – you have to suck it up

and drive on! Your life is too precious to lay wasted

because of something or someone else. Let’s face

reality – SOMETHING HIDEOUS HAS HAPPENED








TO EVERYONE. Forgive. Make peace with yourself

and keep it pushing.

This is the first part of this series. If you don’t

get you in check, then nothing else will be obtain or

accomplished. Smile, it is only going to hurt a little.

Chapter 1

The Only Person Who Stops YOU Is You.

Have you ever wanted something so bad you

were willing to do anything to get it? It doesn’t have

to be something sinful. It could be something simple

as a set of power tools or a new pair of shoes. What

stopped you from getting it? Nothing! You were in

constant motion to get what you wanted. Let’s

analyze this for a moment. Sorry fellas, I am going to

talk about shoes.

Problem: Brand-new J. Renee are on sale. Pay day

is not until Friday.








Issue: Sale goes off Saturday but you have to pay a

bill.

Restraint: None, because it is my money and I can

do what I want.

Solution: Call the company and let them know I will

pay the bill at a later date. Buy the shoes.

Hold up! You know women will do that in a

heartbeat. Fellas, you know that is true for us and

you. The buying of shoes is an analogy for you and

your dream. The only difference is your dream is

intangible and shoes, power tools, houses, cars are

tangible. You can feel, taste, touch, smell and hear

each one of those items. You can’t touch your dream








until it manifest into the natural; and that is what

stops you.

Most of us are in debt. Most of us have bills that

come every month. Most of us have children who

need food, clothes and household items to survive.

Most of us go to an outing to relieve stress. But most

of us will not sacrifice for something that we cannot

see, taste, touch, feel or hear. The need is not

immediate. So we go to jobs we don’t like. We deal

with people who are less qualified than we are. We

take verbal abuse from people we can’t stand in

order to make a living and live at a level that you

have settled for.








STOP THE MADNESS! Your Creator has given

you an undeniable gift that you must use. That’s

why you can say you are better than this! And You

ARE! You are better than your situation! You are

better than your circumstances! You are better than

your job! You are better than your present living

conditions – why because you can achieve your

dream and live the destiny that your Creator has

promised you!

Will it take time; yes, we will talk about that in

Chapter 6. Will it take sacrifice, yes! [Sidebar-

Anyone who knows me knows I love to get my hair

done but I have taken the hairdressers money and








put towards my dream.] Will it be hard, yes! But it is

worth it. Let’s look at our example again:

Problem: Want to pursue my dream and live my

destiny now. [Brand-new J. Renee are on sale. Pay

day is not until Friday.]

Issue: I have been beat up and torn down about my

dreams and aspirations. I was told that my dream

will never happen. [Sale goes off Saturday but you

have to pay a bill.]

Restraint: None. People will talk all day long to

discourage and I have the choice to listen to them or

not. I might have to stay on my job a little longer

until it my dream can support itself but I am willing








to do whatever it takes to make the dream come

true. The only person who stops me is me. No one or

nothing else. [None, because it is my money and I

can do what I want.]

Solution: Work on my dream as it my life depended

on it regardless of what may come my way. [Call the

company and let them know I will pay the bill at a

later date. Buy the shoes.]

*** People will talk about you regardless. Find

yourself doing your dream and prove them right

instead of siding with them and your dream dies.








Answer these questions:

1. Who or what is stopping you from living

your dream and destiny?

continue working on your dream and live

your destiny while moving past those

When all else is said and done you are the person

who will determine if you will live your dream and

destiny or remain the status quo.








Chapter 2

YOU cannot control anyone.

Thomas Glasser2 famed psychologist coined the

phrase in his studies – You cannot control anyone.

I am a fixer. I love to fix other people problems. I

love to give advice. That is the reason why you are

reading this book. Most people are fixers or leavers.

Leavers are people who leave people alone, if the

person does not do what he or she has asked them

to do. Some people are both. Either way, the need of

control is present.

Often times, we try to help people to out. That is

the nature of people. We do not like to see other








people struggle. I do understand. You are only

trying to help. When people don’t accept your help or

take your substance and do something different then

what they have stated – we get mad! Why? Many

times, we get mad because we feel that our time and

resources were wasted. It depends on the side of the

diamond you are looking at. If you are on the

receiving side then you are grateful until someone

makes us feel guilty. On the other side of the

diamond is the person who is given who feel used

because they feel that the person has manipulated

them and that person makes the other person feel

guilty. Either way someone has to ask for forgiveness

for either attitude or regret.








You may not agree with me but you only control

you. You cannot make anyone do anything. People

do things out of respect for you or your position.

That is it. Your children do so because they respect

you and your position of provider. That is why every

now and again they buck the system.

So instead of being mad with everyone because

you feel that your time and resources have been

manipulated, know that the person can only do what

is in his or her scope of learning. Some things are

just obvious. If you know the person is not going to

do right – why send yourself through all that grief of

being mad and regretting why you have done what








you have done. Just don’t do it! You can make them

do anything they do not want to do. So, why are you

stressing out? Control what you do and the other

person’s behavior will change according to your

decision. Yes, people will throw a guilt trip! Yes,

people will get mad at you because you are not

acting right. Who cares? You shouldn’t because you

have been wasting time on unneeded emotions. If

you want to continue to ride a roller coaster because

someone else is sending you on it, keep riding it

until you either get sick and tired or you die. You

choose.

Chapter 3

YOU can only give information2.

Contrary to popular belief, your information is

valuable. Whether you bought your sense or you

learned it vicariously, you know what you know. The

only way to help people is by providing information.

You cannot get mad if people do not take your

information and make their life easier. Why are you

stressing out? That goes back to chapter 2. Reread it

if necessary.

Do you know why you get so mad when people

do not take your advice? You get mad because you








have given a piece of your life that you hold dear

away so that the person you are talking to do not

make the same exact mistake you did.

Give the information anyway. St. John3 writes,

in the book of Revelations 12:11, “They overcame

him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their

testimony.” Not to get too preachy, you have to tell

so that someone else can get the help they need.

Hearing is the only sense that is tied directly to the

brain. Everything else is through synapses and

relays from the brain. Even if the person does not

use your advice, he or she has heard it.








Have you heard something before and have said

to yourself “That sounds familiar.” Well, you have

heard it before but you didn’t need the information.

Since you did not need the information your brain

filed it away until you need it. You do it all the time.

A song you haven’t heard in years will come up out

of you and you start singing it out of the blue. Sure

you have. What happens your brain says to your

body, he or she needs a happy song and your brain

retrieves a song that you consider happy and brings

it back to your remembrance.

The point I am trying to make is they have heard

you. Give the information freely and let the people








go. You cannot make them do what you tell them so

just let it grow until they need it.

Chapter 4

YOU have to raise your deserve levels.

Do you believe that your dream will come to

pass? Do you think that it will take a while?

Depending on your answers, you may need to rasie

your deserve levels. If you answered no for the first

question, then you have a low deserve level. If you

answered yes on the second question, then you have

a low deserve level. Pat Pearson4 states, “A deserve

level is what you think you should expect. You will

not go over or under that level of expectation.” If you

try to go over that level you will begin self-sabotage.

Self- Sabotage is where you put in blocks for








yourself to stop yourself. You deserve all that is out

there for you.

You can have whatsoever you say. If you say you

will have it. We believe that bad things will happen

and they do. We believe good things will happen and

they do. What you have to realize is that your words

have power.

you deserve. If your deserve level is high, then keep








reading. If your deserve level is low, then repeat out

loud after me, I deserve all that my Creator has for

me. Yes, you do. You will talk yourself right out of

your dream. That is why you need to know who you

put your trust in. Negative people love to cosign for

you or against you. We are more negative than

positive. So if we are unsure of something we will

talk to people until someone cosigns on how we feel.

That is why you need to know the negative people

who are in your life so that you can stay away from

them. You do not need a cosigner. You need a

positive affirmation. Repeat after me out loud, “I

deserve all that my Creator has for me.” Yes, you do.

You have to tell yourself that you deserve your








dream everyday. Regardless of what goes on, you

must tell yourself everyday, I deserve all that my

Creator has for me. What do you have to lose?

Chapter 5

You Have To Move Forward Every Day.

Energy is neither created nor destroyed. It

just changes forms. Everything that is done takes

some form of energy. There is always movement.

Your movement determines where you have been,

are and will be in the future. There is no such thing

as happenstance. Everything is planned by our

energy. No, I am not a physic or a spook. I am telling

you the truth. If you don’t have the energy to do

something, chances are, you won’t do it. If you have

the energy to do something, then it gets done and

you excel at it without problem or complaint. The








same is for your dream. Either you are going to move

forward or move backward. Those are the only two

directions you can go in. If you don’t move at all

your body will begin to disintegrate. Think about

people put in the grave. They are flesh when they are

buried. After years, they are bones. Why? The

bacterium that is on your body began to eat your

flesh as well as the bugs. The dead person can’t take

a bath, brush his or her teeth, wipe off bugs and the

like. All they do is lay there and do nothing – waste

away. That is what is happening to your dream.

Your dream waste away.








You have to make changes. What you do

everyday determines where you are in your dream. If

you write, write everyday. If you sing, sing every day.

What is your goal for your dream? By the end of this

year I will have 10 speaking engagements at my fee.

I have to create materials, call schools, get that

website together and move forward. I do something

every day to ensure I am moving forward on my

dream.

Guess what life happens. You will have

heartbreak and heartache. Money will run short. [As

I write this book, the house phone is off.] But you

still have to move forward. No questions. No excuses.








I challenge you to move forward. There will always

be obstacles. So be it! I have a question for you. Do

you know how powerful you are? You are so

powerful that your very words can draw people to

you or can repel people from you. Think about. You

have to work on your dream every day. I have been

working on my dream for 10 years now. I have only

become serious about moving forward on my dream

last year. I am more than grateful for it.

I had a wakeup call. My mother passed in

December of 2009 and my husband was diagnosed

with congestive heart failure in February of 2010. He

was hospitalized for two weeks. Then my doctoral








chair let me know that he was leaving for Korea in

May and I had to finish my dissertation by March to

get the last of the process completed. After

experiencing death and dealing with the possibility

of death with my husband and the not finishing of

my dissertation was life at its worse. I had my dream

nagging at the back of my neck saying, if you were

living your dream you would have had time to spend

with your mother before she passed. You would have

had time to spend at the hospital with your

husband. You would have had time to work on your

dissertation. I still had to go to work. I still had to go

to the hospital and I still had to take care of the

home and type and retype my dissertation. Did I cry,








yes? Was it heard, yes. Did I want to quit, yes but I

had to do it for all the people who were saying I

could do it. I could do it and I did do it. The only

person that stopped me 10 years ago was me.

Nothing or no one else. Just me-frustrated wanted it

to bad. Now I am working on it every day, with and

without time and money. Remember this if nothing

else. If you are not going forward, you will always go

back. You get pushed back but you fall forward. I f

you do fall, and you will, assess the damage and

them get up and move forward.
