Save with Mail OrderThe new year is a good time to evaluate your budget. One

way to cut your monthly expenses is to get your maintenance medications through the mail.

With mail order, you can get a 90-day supply of maintenance medications in the mail for less than the price you’d pay at a retail pharmacy. Maintenance medications are taken regularly for ongoing medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and asthma.

Now that holiday spending is over, it’s time to save money. Here are some examples of how you can save with mail order:

When you enroll in mail order, sign up for automatic refills so you don’t run out of medications.

Don’t have generic medications? Ask your doctor if changing your prescription to a generic medication is right for you.

Prescription drugs can be mailed to your home from the mail-order pharmacy. Mail-order prescriptions are usually delivered within 14 days after the pharmacy receives the order. If your drugs don’t arrive within 14 days, please call 1 (855) 479-3659 toll-free, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For TTY, call 711. You can also call these numbers if you want to sign up for our optionalautomatic delivery program.

Medications Made Affordable

Taking medications prescribed by your doctor will help you manage your health condition. But paying for prescription drugs can take a big chunk out of your budget. If you have a hard time paying for the medications you need, see if you qualify for Extra Help.

With this program, Medicare can help pay for monthly premiums, annual deductibles, and coinsurance. You may qualify for Extra Help but won’t know until you find out.

Call Medicare at 1 (800) 633-4227 toll-free any time, any day. For TTY, call 1 (877) 486-2048 toll-free. You can also call the state Medicaid Office at 524-3370 on Oahu or 1 (800) 316-8005 toll-free on the Neighbor Islands.

Managing PainDid you know that opioids can be highly

addictive? That’s why we encourage other forms of pain therapy first to see if they work just as well as an opioid. If an opioid is necessary, prescriptions will be limited to a seven-day supply for members who haven’t had a previous prescription within the last 90 days.*

If you’re in pain, we want to make sure your pain therapy is both safe and effective. Work with your doctor to see what kind of pain manage-ment is right for you.

* This limit doesn’t apply for cancer pain, palliative care,hospice, and long-term care.

Or maybe you want to continue your existing workout plan. With your HMSA Akamai Advantage health plan, you can

get a fitness center membership to a participating fitness center or select YMCA through Silver&Fit®. If you prefer to exercise at home, you can get up to two at-home fitness kits a year. Both options are available at no cost.
