Educational ObjectivesAfter participating in this course, the attendee should be able to:

• Discuss the latest outcome data for drug eluting stents in complex lesion subsets;

• Compare and contrast different medicated stents and the unique attributes of each stent device;

• Recognize the principles and clinical applications of new antiplatelet agents, lower molecular weight heparins, and direct thrombin inhibitors;

• Evaluate the diagnosis and treatment of stent complications;

• Describe the techniques of coronary angiogenesis;

• Differentiate indications and basic principles of peripheral vascular intervention;

• Determine the risks and benefits of screening, early detection, and prevention in the management of coronary artery disease;

• Discuss new techniques under development for percutaneous cardiac valve repair and replacement;

• Analyze new cardiac imaging modalities; and

• Describe the percutaneous technologies available for stroke prevention in high risk patients.

Target AudienceInterventional cardiologists, cardiologists, vascular surgeons, and internists

with an interest in interventional cardiology. No experience in interven-

tional cardiology is required, but a basic understanding of the field is recom-

mended. This course will emphasize solving practical, day to day problems.

AccreditationScripps Clinic is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Scripps Clinic designates this educational activity for a maximum number of 23 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of the participation in the activity.

Please make your own hotel reservations. The Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines Hotel is located on the internationally famous Torrey Pines Golf Course. Adjacent to Scripps Clinic, 10 minutes north of lovely La Jolla, and 20 minutes from the San Diego airport, the Hilton is close to all the attractions that make San Diego so desirable to visit. With the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop, all rooms command a spectacular view of either the ocean and champi-onship golf course, or a meticulously tended, lush garden. In addition to the tennis courts, swimming pool, saunas and spa, the Shiley Sports and Health Center of Scripps Clinic is available to hotel guests. We are fortunate to have obtained special low rates at the hotel starting at $225 single per night (plus tax and parking). There is no charge for children under 17 years of age. Check in time is 3:00 pm, check out is noon.

Make your reservations early. A block of rooms is being held for us at the $225 rate until September 11, 2007. Please note that this room block can fill to capacity prior to the cut-off date, so be sure to reserve your room(s) early. After the cut-off date, or after the block is full, reservations will be based on space availability and the special room rate will not be honored.
