First Tab

*This entire binder is available at livebinders.com. Search for English 9. Click the blue binder to go to livebinders.

Lets take a closer look at Mrs. Knights use of livebinders. Notice that on her Welcome page, there is an English related visual as well as instructions on how to use the binder. Her first tab is labeled, Welcome. 13

The second page is Mrs. Knights school web page which includes links to her other websites as well as links to sites related to her school and teaching.

14

The next tab is the syllabus tab. Again, notice that the first page contains a visual and directions for navigating these pages. There are also several sub-tabs within this tab.15

These will be shownIn the next few slides.Within the syllabus tab, there are many useful tools A link that launches a word document giving the Final Exam Schedule, the literature textbooks website, a student survey, and another link to a word document listing book response options. The final three sub-tabs will be explored in the following slides.16

Using Google Docs, Mrs. Knight has provided the actual syllabus document. This would be useful for parents. If they needed to, they could print this page for reference.

17

One of the sub-tabs in the syllabus tab is a student survey. The example provided here is a get to know you survey. Mrs. Knight used google docs to create this survey.18

There is also a parent survey. This is a great tool for collecting information at the beginning of the year.19

More links to online quizzesUnder the online quizzes tab, there are several subtabs for various quizzes. Using the sites in this tab provides an easy way for an absent student to stay caught up. 20

This tab contains link to several different sites related to the book Hunger Games. The sub-tab that is open is a site that provides an audio version of the book. This tab set-up could also be a great way to collect information for a research project. The tab would be the titled with the topic, and students could find sites related to that topic.21

*Image made with WordSift (sub-tab 4)Various links to sites for enhancing vocabulary skills are listed as sub-tabs under the Vocabulary tab. There is a visual on the first page of this tab that was created in Word Sift.22

This sub-tab presents a cool graphic organizer that is appealing to the eye.23

The site provided in this sub-tab is a neat visual tool. Short videos that would appeal to a visual learner are provided for words.24

One of the sub tabs in this category is Grammar Girl. Using Livebinders puts many teacher tools out there for others to share.

25

Mrs. Knight includes her wiki in tab 9. Again, it is nice to have all of these sites and resources at students, teachers, and parents fingertips at any time.27

Here is a link to Edmodo. It is a site similar to facebook but aimed at students and teachers.28

Lastly, the teacher includes her blog.
