Design for ‘Little White Lies’ cover

Design 1: Original ImageThis is the original image taken of the main character. The mid shot allows the costume and face of the character to be seen clearly by the audience when they view the front cover.Although there is a complex background differing from the usually simple ‘Little White Lies’ covers, the picture can be edited to ensure the similarities between my design and the professional designs. The characters facial expression is menacing but slightly sultry, which will attract all members of the audience. This is because her image is attractive and her eyes are inviting. The hair is messy and full of volume to imply her mid-battle image.

Edited Examples:The image that contains a boarder is the preferred edit used on the original image.

This image was definitely considered for the final design. This is due to the alien-like image that is presented through the main character as her eyes are other worldly.

Adapting a final design:

1.

2. 3.

From image 1. (the original

image with a paint brush edit) to 2. the flames are

edited onto the image to ensure their importance

is easy for the audience to understand.

The continuation from image 2. to 3. shows the messy background edited so the design is a simple blue. The ‘Little White Lies’ logo has been added to the top of the image…

…And more flames have been edited onto the picture to ensure the entire bottom of the image is completely engulfed.

This design is another suggestion for the main ‘Little White Lies’ design. This design takes into consideration a different part of the original sketch. This is because the character has flames burning the end of her hair. This was designed due to the close connection the character has with the element.

Final Design:This is the final design for the ‘Little White Lies’ magazine front cover. The design has been created using computer edits to ensure the colours are vibrant and bold, taking into consideration the genre of the film. This is because a comic book is stereotypically bright and eye catching, using very saturated colours. The design edit used on the original image ensures the few colours that are used are vivid. The most eye catching part are the eyes of the character which are a bold blue. This matches the background of the front cover which symbolises the water element that is featured in the film. The fire photo-shopped at the bottom of the image represents Odyne’s main power and most important weapon. The flames are covering her enough to ensure they are seen as important for the film as well. The hair and eye brows are dominant with a caramel brown colour. The colour of the protagonist’s hair represents her personality. This is because, blonde haired women are most commonly presented as the ditsy damsel in distress. The brown hair of our heroine means she is stereotypically in power. The ‘Little White Lies’ logo is placed at the top centre of the page, which is the same as the front covers researched for this design.
