Dear Parents/Caregivers
This week is School
Admin is t ra t i ve and
Support (SAS) Staff
Recognition Week, a time to
acknowledge and thank the often unsung heroes in our
public schools. Thanks to the office staff - Kelly, Julie and
Ann; SLSO’s Emily, Bella, Eliza, Annie, Ricky, Ritchie and
GA Ben.
Our SAS staff play an important role in the school
community. They are often the first people you see when
you enter a school and are essential to maintaining positive
relationships with students, parents and the community.
SAS staff work in school offices, in classrooms and libraries
and maintaining and caring for school grounds and
buildings. They are often the ones to tend to students when
they unwell and they ensure the efficient management of
school financial and administration functions.
All of our Administrative and Support Staff do a wonderful
job and we are very thankful for their hard work. I would
also personally like to acknowledge and thank all our SAS
staff for the valuable work you perform and your
contribution to supporting great teaching and learning
outcomes in our school. The little school that CAN !
Congratulations to all the students who represented our
school at the Zone Athletics carnival at Coffs Harbour last
Friday. Thanks to Ritchie Donovan who supports our
students with their skill level, passion and dreams. Thanks
to all the parents who transported the students on the day.
We are all very excited about the Indonesian arts and
cultural evening on Friday. We have a grand opportunity to
impress the visiting DET State primary language team
Konnie Zagrimanis and Stephen Nogher from Sydney and
the three representatives for attaché Indonesia Minister
from Canberra.
Thanks to all the parents who filled in the parent surveys
regarding the Indonesian Program, providing valuable
feedback of which we can share. Please send back your
expression of interest for a parent Indonesian class, which
we are investigating to see if there is a demand.
Hope to see you on Friday evening.
Thanks, yaarri yaraang, terima kasih.

Good luck to William, a representative of the
North Coast in Regionals of the Rugby Union. He
will be going to the St Mary Stadium in Western
Sydney on Monday 26 to Thursday 29 August to
compete in the regional Rugby Union.
Congratulations to all our athletes who competed last Friday at the MNC
Athletics Trials at Coffs. Well done everyone!
Three of our students will be going through to the North Coast carnival to
be held at Lismore held on Friday September 13.
They are:
Tegan in the 11 Yr Girls 200 metres and 100metres.
Mirranya in the Junior high jump and 100 metres.
Harry in the Junior discus.
On Friday, 18 students from Macksville High
School came for a visit to inspect our bush
tucker track. The 3 - 4 students were asked to
guide them around, identifying and describing
the native plants they encountered, as well as
explaining our bush calendar. Our students
were knowledgeable, confident and articulate
representatives of our school and community.
Jump Rope for Heart is well underway! Each day (Tues-Fri) you'll find our students skipping as part of our morning fitness program. Our whole-school fundraising goal is $1 000. There's still time if you haven't registered your child yet. Head to jumprope.org.au and follow the links. If each child can raise $10 in donations we will pass our school goal.

We fall into two broad groups on the subject of climate
change. Half the people are overwhelmed by the dire
predictions of its effects and can see no solutions. Their
response is to deny it is happening. The other half of us want
to do something to lessen the effects of climate change but
don’t really know what to do.
The documentary 2040 provides solutions. Damon Gameau,
the maker of That Sugar Film, travelled the world searching
for solutions that are being tried now, solutions that will be
widely used in 2040.
2040 is a truly inspirational film. It will be shown in Scotts
Head.
When: Friday 20 September
Where: LLL Centre at the Scotts Head Public School
Time: 7-8.30 pm showing time followed by discussion
and coffee/tea
Cost: Gold coin donation
Organiser: Michael Blockey
A film about handling Climate Change
Up Close & Personal
Don’t miss this theatrical presentation by the 3Wyz Wimmin Theatre Company in the school’s auditorium Saturday 19 October at 7.00 pm. It is theatre as you have never experienced it – Up Close and Personal – and the drama being presented ranges from laugh-out-loud to the macabre.
Tickets are LIMITED to 70 and are $20 pp. They are available from the school, from Matilda Street Gallery in Macksville (6568 4433) and from Hello World in Nambucca Heads, 6568 6455.
The first half of the evening will feature four monologues, followed by supper, then two more monologues. The scripts are by local playwrights and a feature is the closing monologue which won ‘Best New Script’ and the ‘Audience Choice Award’ at Newcastle’s 2019 Micro Theatre Festival.
It is expected that tickets will sell out prior to the performance so make sure you get yours early. The school will benefit from the box office.
Note: The principals of 3Wyz Wimmin are shown in the photograph.
L to R: Carrolline Rhodes, Helen Kirkpatrick and Anne Joyce.
