and that’s why we’re going to take you exploring through

the Macedon Ranges. So, read on fellow runner and find

out why this little getaway spot is perfect for you.

In our Little Guide to the Macedon Ranges you’ll find all the

information you need for the perfect trip out of Melbourne –

where to stay, eat and drink, play and exercise (of course).

Our aim is for you to discover something wonderful,

whatever that looks like for you. Read on and then plan

your next trip of self-discovery to the Macedon Ranges.

T R AV E L :

FROM CBD BY CAR:ROUTE 1: VIA M2 & C325Take Lonsdale St to King St / State route 60 and then follow

the M2 for about 50 minutes and exit onto Barry St in Romsey.

Take Romsey Rd to Kerrie Rd. Keep in mind this trip will take

you roughly an hour and 10 minutes and requires tolls.

ROUTE 2: VIA CALDER FWY / M79 & C325Take Lonsdale St to King St / State route 60 and then get on

the M2 Calder Freeway / M79, you’ll be travelling on the M2

for about 50 minutes. Take the exit onto Barry St in Romsey.

You’ll then have to get on the Citylink/State route 43 towards

Bendigo. Take the C706 exit towards Diggers Rest/Sunbury.

This route will take roughly an hour and 15 minutes and requires

some tolls.

ROUTE 3: VIA CALDER FWY / M79Get on the Citylink/State route 43 from Lonsdale St, drive

from Calder Fwy / M79 to Woodend and take the exit C324.

Continue onto Romsey Rd and then drive to Kerrie Rd in

Romsey. This route will take roughly an hour and 10 minutes

and requires some tolls.

FROM CBD VIA PUBLIC TRANSPORTTake the train from Flinders St Station to Macedon Station.

Keep in mind that the trip will take about an hour and 15 minutes.

RUN & WALK TRACKSThink wildlife and wildflowers - take it off-road as you venture

out into the new for a blissful walk or work up a sweat by

building up the pace to a strong run. In the Macedon Ranges

the outdoors is your playground and all you have to do is get

moving. You’re sure to come back refreshed and enlightened

after taking in the surrounding scenery.

HANGING ROCK RESERVE Enjoy breathtaking views at Hanging Rock either at the bottom

MACEDON RANGES WALKING TRAILTake on the 30K circuit and discover hidden beauties that lay

around each corner. The trail joins Camels Hump and Mount

Towrong with the mountain villages of Mount Macedon and

SANATORIUM LAKE WALKING TRAILIf you’re stuck for time but still want to experience the Macedon

Ranges you can take a shorter walking trail, 2.6K to be exact,

of pure bliss. Wander your way through the track and let the

surrounding take over you.

FIVE MILE CREEK WALK Located in Woodend gives you a 2.9K look into native

plantation and beautiful Australian countryside. It’s the

perfect opportunity to get lost on a timeframe.
