1. Week (8. 7. – 12. 7. 2019)
LITTLE CAVEMAN
DAY 1
Monday
Craft: Becca and Karolína will separate the children into different groups of mixed age and the groups
will try to build the fastest and best decorated cave. The cave will be made of boxes and crinkled
brown paper. After the cave is made, the children will paint it brown and orange with their
handprints, as the older children will draw animals (hieroglyphics) with colored pencil on it as well.
Kids can play after with that caves as much as they want to.
Activity: In the afternoon, the children will watch a science experiment where
dinosaur eggs hatch in water. Ms. Karolína and Ms. Becca will make the
dinosaur eggs ahead of time out of baking soda, white vinegar, dish soap, and
dinosaur toys. This experiment will introduce the idea that dinosaurs existed in
the time of caveman and will prepare the children for the Dino Park field trip
the next day.
DAY 2
Tuesday
Field Trip: On this day the children will go on a field trip to the Dino Park, as it follows the Caveman
theme and is also a subject that the children have seemed fascinated by in the past. This field trip will
get the children excited about dinosaurs and help them learn more about dinosaurs in a more hands-
on way.
The little kids who do not go on the field trip will still be able to
learn about dinosaurs by unburying dinosaur fossils in sand that
have been previously buried by Ms. Karolína and Ms. Becca.
DAY 3
Wednesday
Craft: This craft will help children with their hand-eye coordination
as they glue yarn onto a mammoth template. The older kids should
be able to put the yarn on more carefully and in the correct
direction. This craft will also help the children feel the texture of the yarn, similar to a mammoth’s
fur.
Activity: In the afternoon, the children will go outside to participate in a very fun active Mammoth
Hunt that has been prepared ahead of time by Ms. Karolína and Ms. Becca. The Hunt will be a
competition between teams to see who can complete the obstacles the fastest to find and kill the
mammoth at the end first. The hunt will include an obstacle course where the kids will do different
exercises like Jumping-Jacks, collect pom-pom “berries” for food, and “make” fire, with the game
concluding with trying to spear throwing.
DAY 4
Thursday
Experiment: On this day, the children will learn about how the caveman
witnessed erupting volcanoes. The children will watch a very fun, exciting
science experiment where a volcano erupts with baking soda, dish soap, and
red and yellow food coloring. Karolína and Becca will prepare and
demonstrate the experiment and ask the children questions during the
experiment such as which colors make up lava.
Activity: The children will then play one of Becca’s favorite games as a child. The children will pretend that the floor is made out of lava and will have to step on colored construction paper (lava rocks) to make it to the other side of the mountain. The children can also play another version of this game outside called “Lava Monster”. The rules to this game are that one child is chosen as the
designated “Lava Monster” and will remain touching the ground (lava) at all times while trying to “tag” the other children as they run around the whole playground. Craft: In the afternoon, the older children will make a prehistoric musical
drum out of “sticks” and “rocks”, as they can concentrate more on this
difficult task. This will show the children how caveman had to make
everything, including music, from nature. The children can then play along
to the Caveman songs with their new instrument.
DAY 5
Friday
Craft: The children will now become caveman and cavewoman themselves! They will make bone
necklaces with string and “salt dough “ bones which will be made by Ms. Karolína and Ms. Becca
before.
Activity: The children will then make cheetah print dresses and shirts from
fabric in order to look like caveman and cavewoman. They can make
construction paper clubs as well. When they are dressed, they can spend
the rest of the day pretending to be a caveman, playing with a flashlight in
their cave, drawing hieroglyphics, making flashlight animals, fighting, hunting animals, collecting
berries, and playing hide and seek inside their cave.
Extras:
Time permitting, the older children can complete these more difficult Caveman worksheets.
Weekly Song: Pravěk (Czech song), ABC Caveman, Caveman Song
Optional Weekly Videos: “The Croods” movie clip, “Early Man” movie clip, “The Flintstones” T.V.

WEEK IN THE ZOO
The animal world and its diversity are totally fascinating. It endures a great number of species, colors,
exception abilities and skills of all animal species. Their ability to adapt to different living conditions is
also a great inspiration for today's science. We should be grateful for their presence and protect the
environment in which they live. Animals bring joy and pleasure to our lives, some of them become
our pets.
DAY 1:
MONDAY
ATTRACTIONS FROM THE ANIMAL WORLD AND SOME OF THE BEST
The animal kingdom is huge and does not know borders. Unlike people, we can meet them not only
in the country but also in the underground, in the air and in the oceans. They inhabit the vast
expanse of our globe, and that allows them to adapt to the environment in which they live. Today we
will introduce some of them who have captured us not only by their size but also by their uniqueness
and their abilities.
An African elephant is the largest animal living on land. They grow up to 4 m and their weight is
about 7 tons. In addition to their size, what is particularly interesting is their long trunk, which serve
them instead of their hands and they can control everything perfectly. Their big ears help them to
cool when is hot weather, or they use their trunk to cool the whole body. The elephant has no teeth
in mouth, but instead it has large tusks, which are not used to bite. They eat green leaves and grass
and also, they love bananas a lot.
The largest animal on the planet Earth is a huge mammal living in the oceans - a blue whale. It weighs
about 200 tons, that is like 10 giant trucks. Due to its size, for example, its tongue weighs 3t, that is
like 3 personal cars, just as when their babies weight 3t. They need 3 to 5 tons of food daily, it is as a
3-5 smaller cars.
The smallest mammal in the world is the Thai bat. The Thai bats are about three centimetres long
and the wing span is about 13 centimetres long. It's so small that sometimes are called a „bumblebee
“. Another significant feature is his nose which looks like nose of piglet.
The largest bird in the world is the two-finger ostrich. This ostrich lives in savannah, the half-desert
and the desert of Sub-Saharan Africa. It feeds on grass, grains, leaves, flowers, fruit and insects.
Ostrich is the bird with the longest neck, endures the largest and heaviest eggs of all living birds.
Ostriches are breaded all over the world for their tasty meat, eggs, feathers and skin.
The smallest bird in the world is a humming bird. They grow on average about 6 cm and their weight
is less than 2 g. They eat a plant nectar, and they pollinate up to 1500 flowers per day. Some flowers
adapted their flower blooms for this humming bird, occasionally they eat insects or spiders. His
feathers have beautiful rainbow colours.

Everyone likes something yummy to eat and everyone likes something different. If you like good food and you would like to learn to cook some scrummy yummy treats than this week is just what you were looking for. Exceptional week for boys and girls with fine taste buds. We know four main tastes – sweet, salty, bitter and sour. There is of course uncountable amount of their combinations. We will focus on one every day. It is much nicer to work to a tune of a nice song and before we start we will learn an Anthem for this week: “I like to eat apples and bananas” APPLES AND BANANAS I like to eat, eat, eat apples and bananas I like to eat, eat, eat apples and bananas I like ate, ate, ate epples and benenes I like ate, ate, ate epples and benenes I like to eat, eat, eat eepples and beeneenees I like to eat, eat, eat eepples and beeneenees And I like to ite, ite, ite ipples and bininis I like to ite, ite, ite ipples and bininis I like to ote, ote, ote, oplles and bononos I like to ote, ote, ote, oplles and bononos And I like to ute, ute, ute upples and bununus I like to ute, ute, ute upples and bununus DAY 1 Salt is worth more than gold On Monday we will start with the salty taste. We will find out; which foods are salty. Where should we put salt and where it is not advisable. We will not forget that salt is a wonderful seasoning but can be harmful in large quantities. In the morning we will make a yummy spread that we will put on a wholemeal bread. ON the morning menu will be: Tuna and sweetcorn spread
Cheese spread with ham
Fresh cheese and vegetable spread
After lunch we will read a traditional Czech fairytale: Sůl nad zlato. The English version, ofcourse. In the afternoon, we will make crunchy pretzels. DAY 2 Something for a sweet tooth The opposite of the salty taste is the sweet taste. Who would not like sweet things? Today we will visit The Chocolate Museum, where we will learn more about this bitter-sweet food. We will get to taste it too. And paint a picture with it. http://www.choco-story-praha.cz/
DAY 3 Hurray for ice–cream Sunday! We will stay with the sweet taste one more day and with the help of a double bag filled up with ice try to make ice-cream. And in case it by any chance does not work out we will put one more batch in the freezer for the hot afternoon. In the afternoon we will make ice-cream Sundays. Making ice-
cream in the morning will not take too long and we will surely have enough time to make chocolate biscuits to decorate our Sundays with. KOKA sušenky:
100g kokosu 240g hladké mouky 220g měkkého másla 1 žloutek 120g moučkového cukru (dala jsem asi třetinu pravého vanilkového) 3 vrchovaté lžíce kakaa špetku soli While our cookies will be in the oven we will play a game: “Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar.” Who Stole the Cookies? Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar? Who, me? Yes, you! Couldn't be! Then who? (child's name) stole the cookies from the cookie jar. Who, me? Yes, you! Couldn't be! Then who? Continue for as many children as needed DAY 4 In the name of lemons Thursday will be in the name of the sour taste. No need to worry that we would be munching on gherkins all day. Sour taste can be pleasant and refreshing. We will make lemon ice tea in the morning and over a glass of it we will talk about meals that are sour but still good. Making the Lemon ice tea will be a hard work, because we will have to squeeze juice from so many lemons. Get your muscles ready.
And if by any chance we end up with too much lemon juice we can make a home-made lemonade in the afternoon to go with our lemon dressing chicken and vegetable salad which we will be making in the afternoon. During the cooking we will not forget to sing our anthem and we will also learn a new song: „Lemon in a bowl“.
Lemon in the Bowl
Five big lemons in the bowl. (hold up five fingers) One fell out and started to roll. (Fold down one finger, and roll hands) It bumped the table and hit my toe (clap once, and touch toes) How many lemons in the bowl? 1-2-3-4 (Count fingers) Four big lemons in the bowl. (Hold up one fingers Lemon juice is not only good in food. You can also write secret invisible messages with it. We will try that and who can not write yet can draw a nice invisible picture. DAY 5 Secret goodbye meal The taste left for Friday is a bitter one and quite frankly I do not know anybody who would like bitter food. So, on the last day we will hold a fun tasting competition and at the end we will cook a mysterious food, that you will be able to take home to eat with your mum and dad. We will put on aprons, get our wooden spoons out and start cooking. During the week you will learn about many ingrediencies. You will discover new tastes and most importantly, you will have heaps of fun.
4. Week (29. 7. – 2. 8. 2019)
THE WEEK IN THE TECHNOLOGY WORLD
Day 1
Monday:
The Wonderful World of Technology:
What does 'technology' mean? We will look around and try to find something technical, together
we will find out what this term means. We will run in the marked space and look for pictures and
divide them into two groups. On one side will be photographs of things created by people on the
other side will be what Nature has created itself.
We'll continue to work with technology photos: the teacher will come dressed as a grandmother
and will be surprised to see what the children have on the pictures. She will take a photo of
contemporary techniques and ask children what it is. She will be surprised about the progress of
technology and repeat that she did not have that before.
And then we create a big-time machine from the cardboard components (- we will put
together pre-prepared shaped cardboard s by tape). On our own-made machine, we push the
buttons and move the levers and start the adventurous journey in time. We will go through the pre-
school and meet dressed up teachers as they do some work as in the past. For example, a lady who
has wiped out herself moping floor with rag and wringing it hard into the bucket. We encourage
children to help her and lend her our mop today. We will find out how far today inventions are
beneficial and how they worked earlier when our grandmothers were not able to use them.
Day 2
Tuesday:
Trip to the Agricultural Museum –
In this amazing interactive space, the children can touch, try things out, play and have lots of fun. In
the basement, an exhibition of chronologically lined up tractors the children can drive small plastic
tractors. In the Department of Agriculture, they will see the village models with the time progress,
how thanks to technology, soil cultivation and livestock farming are becoming more efficient. They
can try to milk the cow, beat the butter, put the dough into the oven. Except for machines they will
be able to see some animals. The museum has many other interesting floors, but we will not be
able to see everything in one day. In nice weather we could also enjoy the garden with a beautiful
roundabout and live animals: hens, rabbits and pigeons.
Day 3
Wednesday:
Production of cars out of beverage cartons.
Perhaps all boys fascinate one of the most used things in technology and that is a car. We use empty
beverage cartons and create cool cars, maybe fire truck, ambulance or school bus.
Because the cartons will need to dry first, it will be our job today to think about the car we create.
Then, paint it according to the plan and let it dry for another day. After work we play the car game.
We will run and make sound like ambulances, fire trucks, or police. We will try to distinguish their
warning signs. Then we will run as regular cars and respect the traffic lights, so when the teacher
shows the red-light children (cars) stop when there is a green light they can go again. We'll sing the
song Tů tů tů tů, the car is already here during the game.
Day 4
Thursday:
Completion of cardboard cars from the previous day. We will glue their wheels and windows into
which we will draw passengers, or give the firefighters the ladder, for ambulances draw a cross etc.
At the end we will make a car salon and we will go through the exhibition of our finished work.
Day 5
Friday:
Today we will talk about the aircraft and their creation. About the desire of people to fly like birds
and to see the world from above.
Let's stretch up with the poem:
Fly, fly an airplane,
be careful not to fall,
when flying out between the clouds,
greet all the birds,
until they fly around the world,
they will return to the ground.
Fly, fly an airplane,
be careful not to fall.
We will each create our small wooden airplane to play with and at the end we will decorate it with
colors.
