Little Abington Meetinghouse Restoration & New OutbuildingRestoration of a historic Friends Meetinghouse and a new outbuilding.The Little Abington Meetinghouse, established in 1836 and abandoned in the 1970's, had fallen into disrepair when the Abington Art Center created a committee to work towards its revitalization. Paul Macht Architects provided pro bono architectural services, and volunteers came together to complete the work. Winning awards from the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia and the Arts and Business Council of Greater Philadelphia, the project provides new space for arts activities and community meetings. Many recycled and repurposed materials were used, including an existing stone wall, siding milled from fallen trees at Penn State Abington, doors and hardware.
