THE STRONGERThe title of the story is The Stronger by August Strindberg and it is translated by Edith and Warner. The title of the story serve about the main characteristic of the story and overview the outline in the story, so when we read the title we can get the imagery from the main character. The stronger someone who became stronger because of all her experience in the past and we are hoped can take learning from this story. The story is very simple and serve two main characters and a supporting character as a waitress, the main character are MME. X. ( woman who has married ) and MLLE. Y. ( woman who hasnt married ) but its character that protusive just one character and the other one just like giving mimic and simple respon in her body and face.

The characterization of MME. X. Is someone who weak and not confident with her self in the first ...So afraid that i didnt dare let you put out of my sight, no matter when or where, i always found my self near you... but then she learn from her experience and became stronger ...Perhaps take it all in all, i am at this moment the stronger one. You received nothing from me, but you gave me much... so i guess she calm person because she quiet enough when she face the problem and she clever exploiting her problem to profit making for her. And the characterization of MLLE. Y. Is someone who has capability for interesting the other person ( especially man ) ...our acquintance has been so querr, when i saw you for the first time i was afraid you... and her hobby is reading but she cant learn from her books ...you cant learn how to live from your author... so its mean that she is a person who not clever enough.

The setting of the story is in the corner of a ladies cafe. There are two little iron tables, a red velvet sofa, several chairs and the time of the story in the afternoon on christmas eve.The plot of the story is someone who have friendship in the first ( MME. X and MLLE. Y. ) and then their friendship was broken because grudge and jealous between them. Their discord is begin when Amelie ( MLLE. Y ) feel jealous for her friends happiness with her family and then Amelie try to seduce Bob ( MME. Xs husband ). Amelie often come to MME. Xs house and it makes MME. X jealous and seemed as awry because her husband interested to Amelie so it makes discord with her relationship ...but there was always discord when you came to our house, because i saw that my husband couldnt endure you, and the whole thing seemed as awry to me as an ill-fitting gown and i did all i could to make him friendly toward you...But actually MME. X is very jealous to Amelie. She is very disappointed and she always tried to make sure her self that only her someone who most understand her husband ...you see he is true to me. Yes, i am sure of that, because he told me himself... and she try to keep her trust to her husband so she doesnt want has negative thinking for her husband ...that Bob told me about it himself and that it didnt reach me through gossip... although at the end she know what is the fact between her husband and her friend ( Amelie ).

Actually her husband is not too interested Amelie, maybe because Amelie always come to his home and try to seduce him, so thats why he feel curious with Amelie but his feeling just curious and its not take for a long time ...but with no succes until you because engaged.... MME. X know that her husband is very attractive for woman, maybe thats why Amelie attracted to him or maybe because he is connected with the government or any something else ...i dont know why, but the women are crazy about my husband. They must think he has influence about getting them theatrical engagement, because he is connected with the government... so thats why he doesnt too respons them including Amelie ...but i know he never bothered his head about you, and you always seemed to have a grudge against him someway...Day and day MME. X always learning, she does never let her husband intrested to another woman again. So she does all the way to keep her husband from seducing, she was searching from her husband what he want to have from a woman, whats his preference, whats his favourite, how his splendid stride, what little feet her husband has and everything about her husband ...what little feet Bob has ! what ? and you should see what a splendid stride he has ! you have never seen him in slippers...

She really doing anything for her husband although she doesnt want to do that ...i embroidered them my self, i cant bear tulips, but he wants tulips on everything... she learn many thing from Amelie, because she think Amelie has something that she hasnt ...that the reason i had to embroider tulips which i hate on his slippers, because you are fond of tulips, thats why we go to Lake Malarn in the summer, because you dont like salt water, thats why my boy is named Eskil because it is your fathers name. Thats why i wear your colours, read your authors, eat your favourite dishes chocolate, for instance. Thats why oh my GOD its terrible, when i think about it, everyting came from you to me, even your passions...

Anything that she was done, she always feel like thats her not anymore and she feel like imitator, she feels like in the prison where she cant do anything that she want to do, she feels like stood under Amelies shadow and firstly this condition really makes her tortured. She want to release from this condition but she cant ...your soul crept into mine, like a worm into an apple, ate and ate, bored and bored, until nothing was left but he find and a little black dust within. I wanted to get away from you, but i couldnt...

She think that Amelie in her world like an enchanter that always disturbing her and never let herself feel comfort and relax ...you lay like snake and charmed me with your black eyes. I felt that when i lifted my wings they only dragged me down. I lay in the water with bound feet and the stronger i strove to keep up the deeper i worked my self down, down, until i sank to the bottom... thats why she really hate her ...i hate you, hate you, hate you !... and she feel free when at the end her husband doesnt response Amelie again. Thats why she feel poor to Amelie althought Amelie ever broken her heart but she cant be angry to her, how much she want to be. She know that at the end Amelie be a victim on her made ...poor Amelie, i pity you. Neverthless, because i know you are unhappy, unhappy like one who has been wounded and angry because youre wounded...

Finally, she learning very much from Amelie and she became a stronger woman and she take many profit from Amelie. She know how to dress that has only made her more attractive to her husband, she learn how to keep a mans love with her tulips and her passions, she learn how to life from the authors and she alo have a little Eskil, so she received so much from Amelie. Amelie has already lost Bob and she get her husband again. Now, she has many things from her experience and this contrary with Amelie, she got nothing and she has many regret in her self and she just speechless because she know that she is lost.

MME. X give thanks to Amelie because she gave her husband teaching how to love ...thank you, Amelie for all your good lesson. Thanks for teaching my husband how to love...

And at the end MME. X become a stronger woman and she won from this engagements.

So, the concluding of that story is when we are face the trouble in our life, dont too disappointed. Dont think that your self is weak and your world will destroy. Thats all wrong. We always must keep positive thinking in our mind because negative thinking just will make our life more destroy and it just will bring our mind deeper in that problem. Positive thinking is very important in all aspect in our life. Positive thinking will give us more spirit face the world. Like MME. X that face her problem well, she is not hurry when she face the trouble and she take chance from her trouble untill finally she get the point for her problem and she learning very much from it all.

Finally, she is stronger than before. Its really important for us to learn very much from that story. So we will be a person that better - better and better and finally we can win from the engagement in our life. A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE THAT ACTS IS WORTH INFINITELY MORE THAN MUCH KNOWLEDGE THAT IS IDLE
