 3/4 Literacy  Students practise, consolidate and extend what they have learned in the foundation years.   • Reading Reading experiences include: modeled reading shared reading chorale reading guided reading reciprocal teaching independent reading partner conferencing individual conferences with teacher reflection journals genre study author study comprehension strategies accuracy fluency expanding vocabulary We are working towards building learner stamina for reading and writing. We encourage an awareness and use of literacy and numeracy in the real world and a growing interest and awareness regarding world knowledge.

    Writing Writing experiences include: modeled writing, share the pen, guided writing, genre/text structures and features personal writing following the writing process reflection journals partner conferencing individual conferences with teacher, writers traits writers craft spelling strategies and investigations grammar punctuation handwriting publishing and presenting personal writing- New Authors

    Students need to practice skills and strategies at home in order to strengthen their understandings and mastery. They need to feel comfortable in showing what they can do and have their efforts acknowledged and encouraged.
