This week, we are going to be writing a setting description from different illustrations within the

book.

For now, I want you to draw yourself as an Emperor. Imagine that you had been the most honest

and truthful child amongst everyone and you were suddenly declared an Emperor! What would

your clothes look like? Your castle? What would your horses or chariot look like?

Can you use either one of the sentences above to write 5 similes about the following illustration

below from “The Empty Pot”

Here, I have used the second sentence from the examples above to help me from my simile.

Challenge – can you add a noun phrase to add detail to your simile?

Example

Here I added the adjective beautiful to describe the hair and English to describe the grass.

Wednesday – Lesson 3

Little Big Write - A Diary Entry!

Can you write a diary from Ping and the day was announced an Emperor?

Check – did you include:

“Dear Diary,” to begin?

Your feelings and emotions?

At least 2 similes to describe?

Connectives (because, since, so, if, then, before, after) to add more detail?

At least 2 x year ¾ spellings?

Can you look at the picture below and write 5 descriptive sentences using alliteration?

Example:

The dazzling horses danced like delightful flowers swaying the dampened wind

I have used the “d” sound to put together a sentence!

Which sound will you use?

Time for our big write!

Can you write a setting description from the day Ping was made Emperor?

Before we start, can you remember what a simile is? Can you remember what alliteration is? If not,

watch the videos again and look back at your writing this week to see if you can recall them?

Now, have a good look at this picture?

Can you pick a noun (thing) for something Ping can….
