Focusing on ways to ensure our CAFÉ strategies connect with allour children was important!! Visuals, puppets, peer support,

communication devices, anchor charts, games and lots and lotsof practice and modeling helped everyone learn about and apply our

Daily Five CAFÉ strategies!!! We LOVED the Daily Five web-site as well!!

How I went deeper with my instructionthis year

By implementing components of theReading and Writing the Four BlocksWay and The Daily 5, I gave mystudents more meaningful activities thathelped them be better readers and

writers. I’

ve learned other ways of engaging my students by giving themmore choice, and I’m much morecognizant of how my students completetheir work, rather than focusing on thefinal product. By taking ownership of their own learning, my students have a

new understanding of their responsibilities in their learning processand have a whole new world of strategies to draw on as they practicereading and writing.
