The Chemistry Unit (CU) performs testing services on the following:
a) Toys
b) Cosmetics (Chemistry & Microbiology)
c) Textiles
d) Toiletries and detergents
1. Purpose:
The purpose of this document is to provide the customer all necessary information that is required for submission of items
for testing at CU. The Sample Management office staff is responsible for communication with the customer. The Sample
management office staff shall ensure that the all the requirements are clarified and understood by the customer.
2. Capability:
The CU provides the testing services as listed in Tables 1 (for toys), Tables 2 (for textiles), Table 3 (for cosmetics) and
Table 4 (for toiletries and detergents). Table 5 provides guidance for selection of cosmetic tests for various cosmetic
categories and Table 6 provides guidance for selection for toiletries & detergents.
3. Test Method(s): As mentioned in the respective Tables. Refer to FDP-01-03 for revision number of SOPs and for Revision number and Year
of Publication of the DMSs.
4. Service duration:
Service duration is combination of test duration plus maximum of 2 days waiting period, starting from the day of payment
(Payment is to be settled within 7 days after request submission). It is in terms of working days. The duration may change if
the test is repeated for any reason. In the case of cosmetic and textile testing, the duration mentioned in tables is for the
given test only. To analyze more than one parameters for the given category of cosmetic / textile item (in a single request),
the highest duration will be considered as test duration.
5. Test charges & Minimum quantity required:
Refer to Testing Fees (F-CP-2100).
Extra copies of test reports are issued on the basis of payment. Each extra copy of test report is charged as per F-CP-2100.
6. Expected date of issue of the test report: The Sample Management staff shall inform the customer the expected date of issue of the test report based on the service
duration.
7. Test Report: LIMS System automatically uploads the detailed report containing all the test results for the tested sample. The system
automatically sets status to Report issued and generates notification to the applicant/customer. A hard copy of the test report
will be issued only upon customer request with the additional charge as per F-CP-2100.The tested item(s) shall be either
returned / retained as per the contract. If the customer fails to collect the test report within 15 days from the expected
reporting date then, the tested item(s) shall be discarded.
8. Maximum number of samples accepted per request: Only one sample shall be accepted per request. All the items submitted under one request for testing shall be identical.
Refer to clause 5 for the minimum number of items/quantity required for testing.
9. Terms and conditions: Refer to reference document RD-CP-2003.
