List of Interior Design Theses and Dissertations

Robert P. Meden, D. Arch.

Marymount University, Arlington, Virginia

Graduate students’ work is an im- portant resource in building the body of knowledge for the profession of interior design. To develop an awareness of the research being per- formed at the graduate level in inte- rior design programs, the following list was compiled by the IDEC Graduate Education Network, in conjunction with collecting data for the network’s List of Interior Design and Related Graduate Programs.

The intent is to compile annually and submit for publication in JIDER a list of recently completed disserta- tions and theses. Interior design pro- grams responding to the network’s request for information will have their titleslisted. Because this was the first time such a list was compiled, this year’s request was for theses and dis- sertations from the past three years.

The most significant benefit from the list is heightened potential for future graduate students to build on previous students’ work. In addition, by offering a view of the types and variety of issues being studied, the list enables more effective directing of the valuable resource of graduate study in interior design.
