WELCOME
LISC (London International Study Centre) is an independent tutorial college established in 1998. Situated at the heart of Surrey, we provide quality education in individually tailored language programmes and academic courses for students from the UK and abroad.
We recognise the importance of the English language as a means to communicate in a world of growing interconnection and interdependence. Mastering English opens up a wealth of opportunities in academic courses within the British system or abroad and in international schools. In a separate building adult learners, often parents of our junior students, have a wonderful opportunity to strengthen their general or business English. We have a pool of individually tailored programmes to choose from.
We welcome students from all over the world and strive to create a warm sense of community where everyone feels at home.
With heartfelt passion and commitment, our highly experienced and successful team of tutors and staff look forward to welcoming you to LISC.

WHAT MAKES LISC DIFFERENT
What is unique about LISC is that its language teaching takes place in an academic environment. Students do not only have an opportunity to enjoy their stay in the UK but also to work alongside mainstream academic students from England and abroad which further enhances their progress and cultural enrichment.
LISC courses are designed to help our students to reach their required level of English and progress to academic programmes at LISC or other top quality institutions, should they aspire to gaining worldwide recognized qualifications, such as GCSE, IGCSE or A level. In such cases, our students can confidently look forward to their
future within the British education system and fully integrate into their respective schools after successfully completing their courses at LISC. Our programmes accommodate both younger learners and teenagers, up to the age of 19 in the main building and more mature learners in the adult centre.
Intensive English students benefit from a total immersion programme EAT©, English at All Times, specifically devised to achieve optimum results. We believe EAT© provides a very effective way to learn by combining an INTENSIVE ENGLISH COURSE with accommodation, guardianship, culture and extra-curricular activities.

POINTS TO NOTE ...
5
Language students can study general or academic English at any time during the year.
Our students can choose from a variety of EAT© (English at All Times) courses depending on their need whilst combining their choice with a social programme of educational trips and activities and an interactive stay in a caring English speaking family.
Our parent and child course allows us to accept parents with either a child aged 9+ or a little one who attends our nursery for children 0-5. Sutherland Day Nursery is situated only two doors away from LISC. This enables parents to bond with their children in a new cultural environment and combines time off work with learning the language and experiencing England with their child. A very popular option!

“Our tutor for international students said how very pleased she has been with the progress made by S.R.M. who has been following an intensive English course at your centre. She told me that she is unrecognizable from the student that we assessed earlier in the term, as her English has improved far beyond our expectations. We would like to thank you very much for the high quality support that you have provided for the girl, who is now able to join our school.”

ACCOMMODATION AND GUARDIANSHIP…..home away from home…..
All our students have a residential or homestay option, the latter being integral to EAT© and fast language progression.
LISC accommodation options within the local area suit individual needs and expectations. Guardianship support is already included in LISC’s accommodation fees.
All homestay hosts are carefully chosen, specially trained and meet our rigorous selection criteria. This service is offered by our sister company, Sutherland Education, which is a
guardianship organisation accredited by AEGIS.
The Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students is an independent charity originated by Andrew Sutherland (LISC’s Pastoral Head) in 1991 and has a code of practice and strict standards for the care of minors.
Students are constantly encouraged to speak and think in English, both in the classroom and with a home stay guardian committed to providing extra linguistic support and to making the UK experience productive and enjoyable.

ACCOMMODATION AND GUARDIANSHIP
This category is on a self-catering basis (no meals included), ideal for those who seek less direct contact with their hosts. This option offers a more independent lifestyle with a private room and convenient access to shared communal areas within a private household.
This option is for those who would enjoy university style student residence on a self-catering basis (no meals). A private room, en suite bathroom and kitchenette, as well as a student lounge and study area, all offer a very independent life-style for mature students.
With full board (three meals a day), this arrangement allows for a completely immersive local family life experience and cross cultural exchange. Students are treated as full members of the household and are invited to spend time with their hosts. Students benefit from language support and practice in context. They have their own room and private study area, receive help with homework, have 24/7 emergency support and enjoy a well-rounded experience of living as part of a family in the UK.
