U3A MONTHLY MEETINGS beginning at 2.00pm on the last Thursday of every month in Laganview Enterprise Centre, 69 Drumbeg Drive, Old Warren. The next meeting is on Thursday 28th September 2017. Remember to arrive early enough to sign in (for insurance reasons) and sign up for activities, pay fees etc. before the meeting which begins promptly at 2pm. Don't forget your badge and cup. RNIB AWARENESS TRAINING On Tuesday 19 Sep. eight of our members assembled in Room 7 of the Enterprise Centre and spent the following two-and-a-half hours learning alarming statistics and being lead, academically and physically, through guiding people who are blind or partially-sighted. An eye-opener. It was not just about guiding David on hill walks but more about what you should do if you come across a person, say in the street, who appears to need assistance. Recommended for all. NATURE WATCH GROUP The next outing will be on Sat 14th Oct. to Strangford Lough to see the Brent Geese. Please meet at Plantation/Saintfield Road car park at 10.00 am. to car share. We will visit Island Hill and then Castle Espie where we can have lunch. Convener Eleanor Anderson . LET’S GO We still have some places left for Kildare Village trip on Fri. 13th Oct. As we have had to hire a smaller coach, the cost per person has had to be increased. The final price will be calculated when we have definite numbers, but will be no more than £20 pp. If you would like to join us for a great day's shopping, followed by a meal at Avoca, please sign the sheet at the meeting, or email Judith ASAP. Convener Judith Prentice. WRITER’S GROUP Hi everyone, this is the start of our long journey together - no we are not going off on a marathon run - but hopefully it will be the start of the Writers Group. After the monthly meeting (Sept) please all retire to Room 6 upstairs and hear the plans for the coming season. I hope that as many will come to hear and hopefully to join. The fee will be £5 in total and this is to cover the cost of the hall, I will bring plenty of paper and pens and in time a folder will be very useful for you to keep your work in. I really am looking forward to taking on the mantle of Shirley and hope to do her justice but will need all the support I can get. It is said that "the first step is the longest/hardest" please take it. Convener - Margaret Glover. T’AI CHI Group meet on Fridays Beginners 10.15am. Level 2 Improvers 11.30am.
