Future Statistics Per the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, ~
32% of all new jobs created in the U.S. economy will be in the
healthcare and social assistance. Expected to grow by 29.4%, or 5
million new jobs. Employment growth driven by an aging population
& longer life expectancies. As healthcare costs continue to
rise more work being delegated to lower paid workers to cut costs.

in VA will be healthcare related. Home Health Aides, Nursing Aides,
Licensed Practical Nurses and Registered Nurses 27.3% of the
fastest growing future openings in VA will be healthcare related.

Goal--motivate students to explore education in a STEM field
Interact with military personnel to explore careers & observe
STEM applications in the "real world" Increase knowledge, skills,
attitudes and confidence in STEM Inquiry-based curriculum w/
experiential activities (e.g. Newton's Laws & Bernoulli's
principle; nanotechnology, navigation and mapping) Technology
design ( space stations, all-terrain vehicles, & submersibles)
