PreventativeBritish Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month

May was British Veterinary Nursing Awareness month, during which, our team of RVNs did various activities to raise awareness of the fantastic role that they do.Our RVNs attended the World Horse Welfare Penny Farm Annual Fun Dog show, offering free weight checks for dogs and discussing the importance of preventative healthcare with owners.

Would you know what to do if you suspected

poisoning in your pet?

The Veterinary Poisons Information Service (VPIS) is a 24- hour telephone emergency service providing information on the management of actual and suspected poisoning in animals. They provide direct support to veterinary professionals and the public (consultation fee applies).

For each enquiry VPIS will cover the risk assessment for that toxin and species, the anticipated clinical effects and the ideal treatment protocol with prognostic advice, in order to ensure that the veterinary professional is in the best position to provide optimum treatment for your pet.

For emergency advice call 02073 055 055

HEALTHCAREAt Oakhill we cannot stress the importance of ‘preventative’ pet healthcare enough! Preventing diseases or catching them at an early stage is far better than trying to treat them once they have reached a severe state.

PARASITESParasites, such as fl eas, ticks and worms can affect your pet in a variety of ways, ranging from simple irritation to causing life-threatening conditions if left untreated. Some parasites can even infect and transmit diseases to you and your family. We have a range of easy to use parasite products available - ask us about the best way of protecting your pet!

VACCINATIONSVaccinations are strongly recommended as they effectively protect against potentially serious diseases like parvovirus, distemper, and leptospirosis (in dogs), cat fl u, feline infectious enteritis and feline leukemia (cats) and myxomatosis and RHD in rabbits, to name just a few.

REGULAR HEALTH CHECKSUnfortunately pets can’t always tell us when something is wrong, so routine health checks are vital to detect any problems at an early stage. A health check will be always be performed by our vet at the time of your pet’s vaccinations, however, health checks at other times of the year are also available on request. Our 365 Care Plan includes two 10 point health checks per year.

From just

£14 per month!

Our 365 Care Plan has preventative healthcare covered and spreads the cost in affordable monthly payments.
