DMS LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER

2011 -2012

Library HOURS

Monday: 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.Tuesday : 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

*Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. – 4 p.m.Thursday: 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.*Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Monday – Friday from class(WITH A PASS FROM YOUR TEACHER)

During PAL as needed*Shortened Library schedule

LIBRARY RULES

STUDENTS MUST ENTER THE MEDIA CENTER QUIETLY.

STUDENT SHOULD FOLLOW DIRECTIONS.

STUDENTS SHOULD BE RESPECTFUL TO TEACHERS, CLASSMATES, AND VISITORS.

STUDENTS ARE NOT TO MUTILIATE ANY BOOKS HOUSED IN THE MEDIA CENTER.

STUDENTS ARE TO LEAVE THE BOOKS NEATLY AT THE EDGE OF THE SHELVES.

STUDENTS ARE TO PUSH CHAIR IN ON THE RIGHT CORNER OF TABLE.

Basic library policies

The library is for research, study and reading

Good library users are doing something productive and non-disruptive

The library is used by individuals and classes

Students: need a pass during class time – except from reading class

Food, drink,and other things

No food, drink or gum is allowed in the library except by prior arrangement. Water bottles must be kept away from all computers including laptops

No outside electronic devices including audio or video players, cell phones and pagers in the library

Put newspapers and other waste paper in a recycle bin

RETURNING Library materials

Return all library materials in the book drop located in the circulation desk

Do not return books used in the library to the shelves after using them.

Leave them on a table or put them in the drop box for library staff to re-shelve

FICTION - BOOKS THAT ARE NOT TRUE

ARRANGED ALPHABETICALLY BY AUTHOR’S LAST NAME.

FIC- FIRST THREE LETTERS OF THE AUTHOR’S NAME.

WHAT ARE NON- FICTION BOOKS?

BOOKS WITH FACTUAL INFORMATION.ARRANGED ON THE SHELVES BY CALL NUMBER.

EXAMPLE: 004 EDE

BIOGRAPHIES – Non-fiction

BOOKS ABOUT APERSON’S LIFE

ARRANGED ALPHABETICALLY

CALL NUMBER IS 92PLUS THE FIRST THREE LETTERS OFTHE SUBJECT OF THE BOOK

REFERENCE BOOKS

THESE BOOKS CANNOT BE CHECKED OUT OF THE MEDIA CENTER.

This will open two pages. One is for the Dardanelle District Homepage, and the other is for library book search. Notice the tabs at the top.

This is how you will navigate back and forth from one page to another.

Please do not close out a browser window. If you need to open a new page, you can either open a whole page, or a new tab.

More on internet use

Email use in the library is allowed only for educational purposes

Do not print from the computer unless you have asked for permission

You must follow all acceptable use policies of the school district – you and your parents signed this form at the beginning of the year.
