Project Overview (Compromise Design)• Reconstruction of the entire Route 6/10 Interchange

• Replace in-kind approach

• Several new ramp configurations

• Addition of bicycles and streetscape facilities

• Includes Several overpasses:• Hartford Avenue, Plainfield St., Westminster St., Broadway, Tobey St.

• New bicycle/pedestrian bridge over AMTRAK

• Existing AMTRAK overpasses to remain• Westminster and Broadway

• KEEP WITHIN THE EXISTING RIGHT OF WAY• Construction Easements most likely will be required

Major variations from Previous Design• Elimination of the 6/10 Viaduct

• Lowering to ground level UNDER Westminster and Broadway

• Elimination of previously planned flyover (10NB to 6WB)

• Replaced with horseshoe overpass at Westminster

• Reconfiguration of Tobey Street crossing

• Access to Harris Street

• Bicycle access

• Elimination of Route 6EB ramp at Plainfield Street

Base Technical Concept• The BTC will be a sketch plan (pre-10% design level)

• Suggested Construction sequencing/staging plans will be included

• Showing one way to build it

• Identify acceptable temporary closures

• Includes early coordination with Stakeholders

• City of Providence

• AMTRAK

• Utilities

• Olneyville groups

NEPA Process• NEPA process is underway

• To be completed by RIDOT

Project Goals

• Completion within allotted time

• Completion within budget

• Successful Temporary Traffic Maintenance during Construction

• Adherence to project Contractor Quality Control Requirements

• Minimize Impact of work on the Transportation System and Neighboring Communities

• DBE Goals: 5% for design and 5% for construction

RFQ Process

• This is a qualification based selection process

• Do not submit design details or ideas

• Week of April 3, 2017: Shortlist Recommendation
