ORGANIZERSOne of the oldest Library Science Department in India, The Department of Library & Information Science, University of Calcutta was founded in 1945. The first Dip. Lib. Training started in January, 1945. A separate and independent Faculty for Post-Graduate Studies in Library Science was created and the 'Department of Library Science' was placed under it. From the 1969-70 session the 'Diploma' was replaced by Post Graduate degree of Bachelor of library Science (B. Lib. Sc.). In 1998 the Department was renamed as the Department of Library & Information Science and the course was called as Bachelor of Library & Information Science (BLIS). The Department is presently under the Faculty of Post-Graduate studies in Journalism, Education and Library & Information Science. The department has strong and academically rich faculties who are seriously devoted to train the students to make them powerful library professionals for the future.
OBJECTIVES OF THE CONFERENCEInformation literacy is one of the most important topics discussed today. It is essential not only in promoting learning and educational performance of the students, but it also helps to develop well informed citizen of a country, who can identify, locate, evaluate, organize and communicate information derived from a number of sources. Reorienting information literacy is essential, since it has become a complex issue in educational systems. Emergence of information technology has led to many challenges in the area of information literacy. This conference aims to bring in one stage the educationists, library professionals, knowledge workers, researchers, students who will discuss the different facets of information literacy in education system and engaging community; combined with the role of associations, and also policy development. The ethics related to information literacy and its overall implications in the different environment will also be discussed. All of these different dimensions will not only be centred around different types of library, but also beyond them. This conference therefore anticipates a rich amalgamation of ideas and thoughts on this important topic “information literacy.”

CALL FOR PAPERSAbstracts within 275 words are invited from interested participants. Abstracts should be strictly
ndlimited to the main theme and sub themes and should reach within 22 January, 2020, and full thpapers by 30 January, 2020. All papers will go through a process of review by a panel of experts.
