HOMO NARRANS "Homo narrans" is the first chapter of a story about literature Lionel Ruffel has been writing, in the context of his direction of the Master's in Literary Creation at the University of Paris 8. The story takes the form of a fable in order to step away from the modern conception of literature--of its modes of intelligibility and writing. "Homo narrans" takes as its point of departure The Arabian Nights to suggest that literature is less about books, texts and authors than it is about circulating fictional matter. The Arabian Nights allow us to tell the story of literature differently, while offering also in the interstices a theory of fiction and of language. This talk will be in French.
