Elementary/Preschool Office: Mrs. Huighe, Secretary Mrs. Steckler, Principal

We’re excited to be unveiling our Bishop Ryan Educational Plan, a

document illustrates the hallmarks of a Bishop Ryan education and why

it’s distinctly unique.

One of the key sections is our Portrait of a Graduate, a picture of the

characteristics that we intend for all Bishop Ryan graduates to take with

them as they collect their diplomas and head out into the world. This list

of qualities was shaped by thoughts shared by Bishop Ryan parents, faculty and administrators.

A Bishop Ryan graduate:

1) is a self-directed and life-long learner who desires the truth;

2) desires to live a virtuous life as the foundation for happiness;

3) has the habit of integrating the truths known by faith and reason into one’s actions;

4) has worked diligently and courageously to achieve their potential in all curricular and

extracurricular endeavors

5) desires to discover and live their God-given personal vocation as the mission for their life;

6) has a strong historical and philosophical awareness;

7) values the dignity of the human person and respects themselves and others;

8) values friendships that ennoble their dignity as sons and daughters of God;

9) intends to give generously of themselves in service of the common good, God,

and His Church.

We’ll unveil more pieces of the educational plan in future editions of The Lion Times, but you

can view the full document now by visiting bishopryan.com/edplan.

Help us make our donation goal of $5,000 for the After-School Strings!

Santa Shop is a long-standing tradition for Bishop Ryan elementary students, starting many years ago at Little Flower Elementary!

This is a fun event in which elementary students have the opportunity to “shop” for gifts for their immediate family members. The students shop from items that are donated or purchased specifically for Santa Shop. High school students join in the fun by helping the younger students with their shopping, then the gifts are wrapped by parent volunteers and sent home with students to give to their family members. Students get excited about shopping and surprising their family members with a gift.

Families support Santa Shop by making a free-will cash donation for the gifts, with the majority of the money donated to a charity (this year, the Minot Society of St. Vincent de Paul) and a small amount set aside to purchase items for the following year.

Thank you to everyone who has helped Santa Shop remain a successful and fun tradition at Bishop Ryan!

Stop by the administration office if you’re looking for fun gift ideas like

window decals, lanyards, hats, beanies, socks, and all kinds of clothing items!

Important School Security Note

Please be aware that starting Monday, December 1st, we will be asking all school visitors to stop in the office

where they enter the building to register.

1) All visitors must register on the visitor’s sheet. 2) Visitors must wear a name badge while at school.

This is important not only for keeping our students safe, but in the case of an evacuation, the visitor’s sheets

provide our team with information to help account for everyone who’s in the building.

Please note that it will take a few minutes to complete this process, so looking ahead to upcoming December

events happening during the school day, please allow a little extra time to complete this process before your event starts. Please share this information with any relatives or friends who may be attending, as well.

The dual season has gotten off to a great start, and some of the boys have already picked up individual

championships in tournament action. Next up: A triangular in Rolla on

Thursday with Rugby and Northern Lights.

After two close losses at Shootout on the Prairie, the girls hit the road for a matchup with Rugby on Friday night.

It’s a home-opener for the boys when they host Hazen in their first game of the season on Friday, December 7th.

As of this publishing, 474 Lot-O-Dough

tickets have been sold and returned! We’re on our way to the first goal of 1950 tickets sold, with a non-uniform dress day as the reward.

in the administration office. Cash prizes and tuition credit are up for grabs for those who sell

20 tickets or more! Drawings start right after Christmas break; completed tickets and money can be turned in as soon as you sell them, but

to make sure your tickets are in for EVERY drawing, we must have them in the office

by Friday, January 4th! THANK YOU!

Lot-O-Dough Calendar drawings have two $25 winners every Monday-Friday, a $100 Saturday

winner, a $200 Sunday winner, and $1,000 final drawing winner from January 1st-June 30th.

(Drawings are made for the week preceding on Monday mornings. Winners are listed

on our website and in bulletins at Minot’s Catholic parishes.)

Clockwise from above:

All smiles from our Fall State Champion Lion Cheer Team and All-Around and Jump-off Champs!

We’re so thankful for all of the volunteers who share their time supporting our school.

The saints were marching during the annual elementary All Saints’ Day event.

With your help, we donated over a ton of toiletries and non-perishable food items and almost $400 cash to the Our Lady of Grace Food Pantry. Our donation also qualified for a $500 bonus for surpassing 1,000 pounds!
