Lion Dance
• Traditional dance in Chinese culture• Performance art by two people• Mimic lion’s movements in a lion costume• Accompanied by cymbals, singular gong,
drums, and firecrackers• Intention of it is to wards of bad luck• Usually performs in Chinese festivals, business
opening ceremonies, traditional wedding
Northern style lion dance
• Resembles movements of pekingnese dog
• Usually appear in pairs
• Short, stocky and furry
• Relatively smaller than Southern style
Southern style lion dance
• Fut San (Buddha Mountain)
• Hok San (Crane Mountain)
• Fut Hok (hybrid of Fut San and Hok San)
• Chow Gar (Chow family style kung fu)
• Green Lion (Fujian, Hokkien, Taiwan)

• Large eyes
• Mirror on the forehead
• Single horn at the center
