Market Watch The pace of home sales

rose slightly in April after a

slow start in 2014. Invento-

ry increased noticeably in

April, meaning buyers

should have more choices

moving into this year’s

peak home buying season

and may have less competi-

tion in certain markets.

While the overall inventory

in the country has in-

creased, there is currently a

great deal of variance in

local markets, with inven-

tory levels in some cities

remaining substantially

lower than the national

numbers and inventory lev-

els varying by price point

within many markets. Pric-

es continue to increase this

year, helping even more

homeowners return to posi-

tive equity. Interest rates

remained below expecta-

tions at the beginning of

this year and have dipped

even further in recent

weeks. With buyers having

more options available and

sellers poised to take ad-

vantage of equity growth,

the summer months should

offer opportunities for all

individuals looking to par-

ticipate in the housing mar-

ket.

Don’t forget…. With every

closed escrow we donate a

portion of our own commis-

sion to helping sheltered,

abused, and homeless animals

find loving, forever homes!!.

My grandpa Gerald and Grandma Jo have loved Los Angeles and their lives here. Though, once or twice they’ve admitted that getting older might have been a little easi-er in a small town. Say the suburbs, “Somewhere like Santa Maria, where your mom lives,” my grandfather has said on occasion. And while my grandparents are in the end content to stay put here in the city, it’s a personal decision each of us has to make each time we are looking to move. Urban areas like West Hollywood, Hollywood and Downtown Los Angeles (to name a few) are tough due to their high cost of living, generally less living space, traffic and congestion. On the other side of that coin, these and so many other urban areas of LA are so very attractive because they are alive with culture, ideas, people, diverse ter-

rain and night life! We all need different things for our lives at different times. So for some homeowners it may just be time to move up (to a better or larger home) and for others it may be time to move on. Moving up and/or moving on often require you to give something up in order to get something. Is it more im-portant to be able to save money and have more yard space and a shorter commute to your doctor’s office/your child’s school/fill in the blank. Or will you be happier spending a little (or a lot) more to have your home closer to your job in West Hollywood/Beverly Hills/fill in the blank and heading to Barnsdall Art Park/Runyon Canyon/fill in the blank on the weekends? Is it time to sell the house in the city and trade in the season tickets to the Hollywood Bowl for living closer to your grandchildren or your brother in Woodland Hills, for example? Whatever the decision, the goal should be to live the best and happiest life for you and sometimes it takes a little give and take to get there.
