Elevator Pitch

Exchanging information is a hassle when networking and meeting people for the first time. Business cards are an outdated solution.

We partnered with LinkedIn to use their existing professional network in the context of a live event.

The LinkNow app enables business people to easily make and manage connections.

User Tasks1. You just met a new person, John Watson, and want to connect

through the app. What do you do?2. You met Benedict Cumberbatch at an event recently. How do

you reconnect with him?3. You went to an IXDA show this past year and want to find your

connections from there. Where do you go first?4. How would you change privacy settings?5. You want to e-mail Benedict, who you met at an event, but you

can’t remember which event it was. What would you do?

USER INSIGHTS “What does Nearby really mean?”

Did not see ‘Happening Now’ section

“Icons are confusing” User selected icons expecting a different result

User unsure of how Reminders work - did not know they existed.

“How does it get my information? Is it safe to show my information on this app?”

“Did I change something? Device does not give me any feedback.”

USER INSIGHTS CONTINUED

This is only valuable if it’s faster and easier than writing down a number or name directly in the phone…

Need for Speed & Ease

I want to choose exactly who can find me, like 2nd and 3rd connections only. I also want to accept all requests.

I ♥ control

It would be cool to have an advanced Search so I can find people who work for XYZ company and will be at XYZ event...

Advanced Searching, Please

Some people would NOT like this. At Sales Conferences, for example, prospective customers don’t want to be bombarded by salesmen...

This isn’t for everyone

I imagine people will want a lot of control. I wouldn’t want anyone near me to just find me.

Privacy is a big deal

Page 21: LinkNow · 2017. 9. 22. · Slight visual modifications to match the Material Design guidelines (mostly) Updated verbiage Changed description of Notifications Feature Changes Removed

PERCEIVED VALUES & DRAWBACKS

Business cards are old-fashioned and a waste of trees.

This is a cool way to meet people in your industry, stay connected, and recall events.

It makes events and conferences more engaging.

Privacy is concerning. There is a risk of someone you don’t want having your information....

This is dependent upon other people also having the app.

It seems like extra work if I can’t add these people to my phone’s address book and/or LinkedIn seamlessly.

#5ON THE RIGHT

PATH

We realized that we need a good onboarding process to orient our users.

Stars, cameras, and pages meant different things to different users and to us (even at low fidelity).

Most users had several ideas on other features we should add, but we had doubts about how many of them would actually use these “suggested” features.

Users find it unnerving when the app provides an option to show their information to “anyone” - wording is really important.

We found that most users did use business cards but found them to be a flawed solution. Feedback to our app was positive.
