What is a marathon?• Marathon is a long run.
• People run them as a challenge, to raise money for charity or sometimes just for fun (crazy people!).
• You can have a full marathon which is 26 miles or a half marathon which is obviously 13 miles.
• In our country they normally take place in big cities such as London, Newcastle and Sheffield or are featured at big sporting events like the Olympics.
MarathonsMarathons are often used by local councils to promote tourism and to advertise a place.Lots of people run in them and they are often on TV.They pass by all the important and famous places in a city that
make it a special place.
