Distance Metric Formulation

where Sw-1 is a weighted matrix obtained by multiplying the inverse of the covariance

Table A1 Species included in our analysis, the number of occurrence points per defined range (P1 and P2), habitat type

(aquatic (A) and terrestrial (T)), kingdom (Animalia (A) and Plantae (P)), family, geographical distance between ranges,

and cluster sum of squares for k-means clustering. Geographical distance was calculated between all points in the two

presence ranges sing the R package ‘geosphere’. The number of pseudo-absence points per species is equal to 10x the

sum of the occurrence points in ranges P1 and P2.
