Linear drainsThe linear drain from butech is a drain for built in shower trays with horizontal outlet. It features a wide plate around the grating, which ease the connection to the imperband waterproofing sheet. It helps to solve easily and effectively outdoor waterproofing and drainage.

There are two drains depending on their location in the shower tray; lateral grate attached to wall and central grate. Steel grates are not included in the linear drain.

Wall linear drain features - 104 mm high drain.

Linear drains

ComplementsAdditional waterproofing.Special pieces made of waterproof and wear-resistant thermoplastic rubber, attached to polyester sheets which allow laying with type C2 cement-based adhesives as per EN 12004. Specially designed for waterproofing critical spots.

Inner angle: Special piece for sealing inner angles.

Outer angle: Special piece for sealing outer angles.

Waterproof band: 8 cm wide waterproofing band for sealing edges, level changes, and move-ment joints.

Steel gratesStainless steel grates for trimming butech's linear drain. Available in three finishes:

- Standard grate: steel grate with slotted design. Includes stainless steel frame.

- Solid steel grate: solid steel grate with brushed finish. Includes stainless steel frame and height raisers and screws for adapting any type of covering to the frame height. It features a functional finish.

- Ceramic grate: metallic base for bonding ceramics, mosaic or natural stone. Includes stainless steel frame and height raisers and screws for adapting any type of covering to the frame height.

All these grates are available in two lengths: 695 and 895 mm.

Depending on their location in the shower tray, there are two types of frames for linear grates:

- Central, symmetric frame with two 8 mm sides.

- Lateral, asymmetric frame with a 20 mm side for trimming against the wall and a 8 mm side against the shower tray covering.

Installation Guide

Center linear drain.

This drain from butech has been developed for waterproofing with the membrane imperband.

Type C2 adhesives are recommended as per EN 12004. butech recommends to use fr-one n or one-flex n.

1. Connecting the drain to the drain pipe.

Place the drain on the substrate and adjust the height of the legs until the drain sheet is flush with the shower tray. Take into account that the frame height over the drain metal sheet is 12,5 mm. Connect the drain outlet to the drain pipe.

2. Preparing the shower tray substrate and waterproofing.

Protect the drain inlet and fill the shower tray base with cement mortar up to the metal sheet level. We recommend to make 2% slopes in the shower tray.

3. Shower tray waterproofing.

Once the substrate dry, install the imperband waterproofing sheet by the thin-bed method with adhesive on the mortar base of the shower tray, and with a putty like p-404 on the metal sheet surrounding the drain inlet.

4. Laying the covering material.

Once the imperband waterproofing sheet fixed, cut the portion covering the drain inlet, place the grate frame and, starting from the frame, bond the chosen covering.

5. Installing the u-bend.

Install the u-bend in the drain inlet.

6. Installing the decorative grating.

Seal the joint between frame and covering with p-404 putty and install the chosen decorative grate. Finally, seal the tile joints with a waterproof material.

In case of installing the ceramic grate, screw the hight raisers needed to the grate base until the chosen covering is flush with the frame. Bond the covering with a p-404 type polyurethane putty.

Solid steel and ceramic linear grates can be installed without the frame. In that case, lay first the chosen covering for the shower tray and then adjust the final height of the grate with the height raisers.

Installation Guide

Linear drains

Wall linear drain.

This drain from butech has been developed for waterproofing with the membrane imperband.

Type C2 adhesives are recommended as per EN 12004. butech recommends to use fr-one n or one-flex n.

1. Connecting the drain to the drain pipe.

Determine the final height of the shower tray, adjust the level of the drain sheet so that it it flush and fix the drain to the wall; take into account that the height of the frame on the drain metal sheet is 12.5 mm. Connect the drain outlet to the drain pipe.

2. Preparing the shower tray substrate and waterproofing.

Protect the drain inlet and fill the shower tray base with cement mortar up to the metal sheet level. We recommend to make 2% slopes in the shower tray.

3. Shower tray waterproofing.

Once the substrate dry, install the imperband waterproofing sheet by the thin-bed method with adhesive on the mortar base of the shower tray, and with a putty like p-404 on the metal sheet surrounding the drain inlet.

4. Laying the covering material.

Once the imperband waterproofing sheet fixed, cut the portion covering the drain inlet, place the grate frame and, starting from the frame, bond the chosen covering.

5. Installing the u-bend.

Install the u-bend in the drain inlet.

6. Installing the decorative grate.

Seal the joint between frame and covering with p-404 putty and install the chosen decorative grate. Finally, seal the tile joints with a waterproof material.

In case of installing the ceramic grate, screw the hight raisers needed to the grate base until the chosen covering is flush with the frame. Bond the covering with a p-404 type polyurethane putty.

Waterproofing at one level

Installing the horizontal bathroom drain (100005822) without complements:

1. Connecting the drain to the drain pipe.

Connect the drain outlet to the drain pipe. Protect the drain from debris with the protecting cover.

2. Preparing the shower tray substrate and waterproofing.

Fill the shower tray base with cement mortar up to the fixing crown level and make 2 % slopes towards the drain. Check that the top of the drain plus tile is at the desired level.

Once the substrate dry, install the imperband waterproofing sheet by the thin-bed method and cut the portion covering the drain body.

3. Laying the covering material.

Take out the drain body protective cover, insert the connecting piece and, starting from the grate frame, bond the chosen covering.

4. Cut the connection piece between grate and drain.

Once the tiling finished, cut the connecting piece so that the grate frame is flush with the shower tray.

5. Installing the u-bend.

Install the connecting piece over the drain body and install the u-bend. If you wish to seal the grate base, use the rubber o-ring.

6. Installing the decorative grating.

Once the grating base piece installed, seal the joint between frame and covering withp-404 putty and install the decorative grate. Finally, seal the tile joints with a waterproof material.

Waterproofing at two levels

Installing the horizontal bathroom drain (100005822) plus all the complements available:

- Bathroom compensation piece (100005824)

- Bathroom drain connection (100005825)

- Circular bathroom drain grate (100005826)

1. Connecting the drain to the drain pipe.

Connect the drain outlet to the drain pipe. Protect the drain from debris with the protecting cover.

2. First waterproofing level.

Fill the shower tray base with cement mortar up to the fixing crown level and make 2 % slopes towards the drain. Once the substrate dry, apply the first waterproofing level.

3. Installing the compensation piece.

Take out the waterproofing part which could cover the drain body and take out the protective cover. Place the compensation piece in the groove around the upper part of the drain body. Cover with the protective cover.

4. Second waterproofing level.

Fill with cement mortar from the first waterproofing level until the base of the shower tray, and make 2 % slopes towards the drain. Once the substrate dry, install the imperband waterproofing sheet by the thin-bed method and cut the portion covering the drain body.

5. Fixing the waterproofing system to the drain.

Take out the body drain protection cover, place the rubber o-ring on the waterproofing system, cover with the steel ring and screw. Check that the waterproofing system is connected to the drain without leaks.

6. Laying the covering material.

Insert the connecting piece and, starting from the grate frame, bond the chosen covering.

7. Cut the connection piece between grate and drain.

Once the tiling finished, cut the connecting piece so that the grate frame is flush with the shower tray.

8. Installing the u-bend.

Install the connecting piece over the drain body and install the u-bend. If you wish to seal the grate base, use the rubber o-ring.

9. Installing the circular grate.

Once the grate base piece installed, seal the joint between frame and covering withp-404 elastic putty and install the frame and the chromed circular grate. Finally, seal the tile joints with a waterproof mate-rial.

Take out the body drain protection cover, place the rubber o-ring on the waterproofing system, cover with the steel ring and screw. Check that the waterproofing system is connected to the drain without leaks.

6. Laying the covering material.

Insert the connecting piece and, starting from the grate frame, bond the chosen covering.

7. Cut the connection piece between grate and drain.

Once the tiling finished, cut the connecting piece so that the grate frame is flush with the shower tray.

8. Installing the u-bend.

9. Installing the circular grate.

Once the grate base piece installed, seal the joint between frame and covering withp-404 elastic putty and install the frame and the chromed circular grate. Finally, seal the tile joints with a waterproof mate-rial.

Floor drainThe floor drain from butech is a drain for terraces and outdoor floors. It features a wide dish around the grating, which ease the connection to waterproofing sheets. Available with horizontal and vertical outlet, it helps to solve easily and effectively outdoor waterproofing and drainage.

The 10 cm connecting piece between the grating and the drain can be cut, so that it can be installed with glass mosaics up to natural stones. Includes steel grating.

Installation Guide

Floor drain

This drain from butech has been developed for waterproofing with the membrane lamitech n.

Waterproofing at one level1. Connecting the drain to the drain pipe.

Connect the drain outlet to the drain pipe. Protect the drain from debris with the protecting cover.

2. Preparing the terrace substrate

Fill the terrace base with cement mortar up to the fixing crown level and make 2-3 % slopes towards the drain. Check that the top of the drain plus grate is at the desired level.

3. Waterproofing the terrace base

Once the substrate dry, choose a type C2 cement-based adhesive as per EN 12004 and spread it with a 6 mm notched trowel. Apply the adhesive both on the substrate and on the drain fixation crown.

4. Waterproofing Sheet Bonding

On the adhesive still fresh, place the lamitech n waterproofing sheet and take out the drain's protective cover. Unroll the waterproofing sheet and press it on the fresh adhesive avoiding to form air bubbles. Use lamiband 200 to cover the terrace junctions with any vertical element and waterproof the joints between the lamitech n pieces.

6. Fixing the waterproofing sheet to the drain.

We recommend to use the bathroom drain union to ensure the union between the waterproofing sheet and the drain. Place the rubber o-ring on the lamitech n at the level of the groove around the drain body, cover with the metal ring and fix with the screws supplied.

5. Laying the covering material.

Install the connecting piece between the grating and the drain and trim it so that the grating frame is leveled with the tray covering. The piece should point in the direction where the grating is to be installed. Spread a layer of type C2 as per EN 12004 cement-based adhesive with a suitable size notched trowel, starting from the grating frame. Lay the chosen covering.

6. Installing the u-bend.

Once the terrace tiled, take out the grate base, cut the

lamitech n circle covering the drain body and install the u-bend. If you wish to seal the grate base, use the rubber o-ring.

7. Installing the decorative grating.

Once the grating base piece installed, seal the joint between frame and covering withp-404 putty and install the decorative grate. Finally, seal the tile joints with a waterproof material.

For waterproofing at two levels, we recommend to use the compensation piece.
