Gourdon Village Artist 2012 (Aberdeenshire) Living and working from my Egg caravan on the harbour, I became the village artist for Gourdon from April to May of this year. I delivered creative activities as a catalyst for community engagement. I worked with businesses, schools, parents older people, fishermen, scientists plumbers, off shore workers and more. The residency concluded with a weekend of events including an exhibition, night projection on the Harbour and the first screening of community cinema. My recordings, discussions and dialogue with the community are being use as stimulus and evidence to drive further funding for creative, cultural and heritage projects in the village.

Green TV. This year long project allowed me the privilege of working in the heart of the industrial North east, whilst simultaneously being amongst stunning natural resources. Surrounded by oil refraction towers, nuclear power stations and city waste sites, Saltholme RSPB reserve is home to Golden Plovers Terns, Goldfinches, Sand Martins Egrets, and many more. I was commissioned to make a video work with schools and the community to examine the natural heritage of Saltholme reserve. Workshops combined the use of drawing, audio recording, photography and collage to make the video. As well as the video work we created a brass rubbing trail using the inspirational text that the young people developed, encouraging an activist response to environmental issues.

Is this as Far as you can go? Inspired by working with the detached youth team in Sunderland Council, I was intrigued by the young people who couldnʼt access services as they would have to walk through rival Gang areas in the town. I was interested to explore how we internally map our map our cities and local spaces what defines our sense of place, what prevents and defines how we use our streets and community. This work was created with Artist Marek Gabrysch. (Exhibited with Blank Media Manchester)

Dilly Line. 2010 The Dilly line is an ex railway that cuts through a now deprived area of West Gateshead. Working with older people to create a photographic exhibition surrounding their memories of the food from their youth, from tablet to tripe. We ate together, talked and created photographs These works where then printed and displayed in a local underpass which once formed part of the Dilly line as part of a new community gallery.
